!*#$ing Heron ! by
Martin Harran
Have my pond eight years, gradually built up to 24 fish - including 6 of
original fish I put in when I first built it - and a !*#$ing Heron cleaned
it out last week :(
Anyway, I've had a problem with murky water last few years, all tests
showing it ok* and no problem with sick or dying fish,...

"attaching" plants to side of pond by
k conover
I have a pond with very narrow shelves that seem to slant down towards the
pond, so I have a very hard time keeping plants on the shelf (I've kept a
few there by putting a heavy rock in the pot on the higher part of the shelf
next to the pond wall). I've now got a couple of larger plants I want...

Hi Group,
Forgive me if I'm in the wrong place, but you guys seem to know what
you're talking about. Please point me in the right direction if you
have any clue what I'm talking about.
I would like to build (or attempt to build) a water fountain that
squirts jets of water (continuously or in...

"Gin Clear" water by
Barry
I saw a pond this weekend that had to be the most beautiful
manmade pond I've ever seen. The pond had two wells.
One well fed clear water in and the other allowed it
to drain out. Constant fresh water. No filters just clear
circulating 73 degree water.
The pond was about 40' long with varying...

"gravity vs pump" flow rates by
Nathan A. Smith
Hi,
Hopefully this is a simple question -- how does the flow rate between
something flowing just from gravity compare to say a 500 gph pump?
Assuming the same tube size.
The reason I ask is I have a veggie filter that is having water feed to it
from a pump and water is returned to the pond via...

"KOI" vs. "Wakins" by
Jerry G
Does anyone here raise "Wakins"? I had never heard of them before
playing on the net today....really cool looking fish. Wondering if
they are as friendly as KOI? Other differences (besides price)
between KOI and Wakins?

"Shark" Algae Eater? by
stricks760
My local Koi ranch mentioned in their newsletter that they have some kind of
a 'shark' that eats gunk off the bottom of the pond.
Anyone know what this could be, and if I should investigate further, or
avoid it?
Thanks!

"Dragonfly" behaviour by
Broadback
I'm,sure the proper name is not dragonfly, but that is what I called
them as a child, anyway they are insects about 8cm/3inch long, with
double wings found around water, good at hovering.
Just visited my month old pond and found a pair, one blue one brown
linked in tandem flying over the water in...
