2002 SL1 head gasket oil leak by
hubops
Almost out of powertrain warranty ; 90000 km ;
Saturn dealer says the head gasket is leaking oil.
I see no drips ; no significant usage between oil changes (5000 km)
It took the dealer 2 tries - with dye in the oil - to confirm a leak.
Any suggestions about the pros & cons of just leaving as is...

wheel nut threads by
hubops
When I switched-over to my winter tires, a few weeks ago,
I had almost every lug nut thread off "stiff" ... not exactly
stripped threads - but not finger-loose (like I'm used-to)
Someone at work said the threads can be "stretched" from
over-tightening ... others are saying never use any...

2002 SL1 intake gasket by
hubops
My friendly neighbourhood Saturn dealer is saying
that my intake manifold gasket is faulty.
I was in for routine oil/tranny fluid change.
No symptoms - that I can tell. yet...
What symptoms should I be looking for ?
Will it likely fail suddenly or gradual ?
120,000 km on the car.
Thx. John T.

2002 SL1 by
hubops
My 16 year old accidently parked my car on its roof ...
in a grassy ditch with a few inches of water.
She crawled out with nary a scratch - could have been very serious.
The car sat on its roof for over 2 hours before the hook truck arrived
.... no sign of any oil on the ditch water.
.... not a...

Wipers by
[email protected]
I have a 2000 SL1 and when I shut off my wipers, instead of coming to
rest at the bottom of the windshield, they stop in the complete
upright position. Other than that, they work fine. Is there anyway
to easily correct this, short of going to the dealer?
Thanks in advance

More on the Flickering by
HyperCube33
Alright. So I finally broke down as I am having a rough few weeks and took
my car in to have the alternator and battery tested. Both checked out fine,
but they apperently found a loose connection to my battery and tightened it.
Afterwards my car ran beautifully, until it rained. Afterwards it...

GM10 Trunk Connector to PC? by
HyperCube33
I'm wondering how to find specs on the control protocall the changer uses to
perhaps interface a carputer to the stock radio. I know its possible to get
RCA inputs through this connector but the device (GM10-AUX) seems a bit
overdone.

Flickering solved! by
HyperCube33
So I finally solved the flickering issue. After leaving my lights on before
a big trip this weekend, and having it jumped, the battery wouldnt hold a
**** of a charge.
I just kept a jump pack with and used it most of the weekend and put it on
the charger for over a day. Finally it managed to...

Aftermarket Sunroof by
HyperCube33
Alright, after actually having time to do research myself, I've come across
this:
http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/9602saturn.htm
It sounds more promising than a Saturn roof would - actual metal rails!
anything else that would provide an easy install? I'm just looking for a way
to fix my sunroof -...

Anyone care to reccomend their preference?
I noted that Sears Diehards are favaorable.
Are there any gel cells for my car? If so, are they crap?

Jammed Sunroof by
HyperCube33
I was driving home today and decided to open my sunroof. After a cracking
sound that it usually makes (I can make a digital video for anyone if they'd
like) the drivers side became stuck, wont open or close.
I know SC2's are problematic with having headliners and sunroofs leak.
Should I pony up...

Plugs by
HyperCube33
What plugs come standard on a 97' SC2?
I was reading, some say NGK (or whatever), some say AC Delco.
I know you should use "resistor' plugs, but what part numbers am I looking
for, etc?
I'm really frustrated with the local parts people throwing crap at me.

Flikering lights by
HyperCube33
My car (1997 Saturn SC2)'s lights flicker constantly.
Supposedly, I recently had my alternator changed out, after it abruptly died
on the highway.
My car has almost always had some kind of flickering light problem, but in
the past months its gotten worse, and is exsecially worse over 55Mph and...

Flickering leads to shuttering by

Today we drove about 300 miles to minnesota, almost burning the usual quart
(since I havent switched those evil bosh plugs out yet - tomorrow) but now
when I turn my turn signals on, the car momentarilly jerks slightly as If I
ran over a big bump, and when I turn my lights on the battery idiot...
