Do brake pads have to be the same thickness? by micky
Do brake pads have to be the same thickness? AIUI, it doesn't matter. I'm having real trouble getting the inner brake pad to fit all the way into the appropriate space. It won't go in the last 3/8". I'll use a brighter flashlight and try harder to see what is interfering with the thick...

2002 Ford Taurus Transaxle by Joe[_101_]
When my 2002 Ford Taurus is parked up a slight incline, it leaks a lot of transmission fluid. It appears to be leaking from the gasket at the rear of the transaxle, but it may be leaking from somewhere above the gasket. Assuming the gasket was the easiest thing to replace, I decided to...

Prius owners- fuel grade? by Don Stauffer
I am contemplating buying a Prius, and stopped by the dealer yesterday to pick up a brochure. The brochure says the engine compression ratio is a whopping 13:1. That seems a bit high to run well on regular, even with a knock sensor. The brochure does not mention what grade of fuel is...

help locating low side A/C port on Pontiac Montana? by me
Hi, I'm trying to find the low side A/C port on a 2002 Pontiac Montana. So far I can only see one fitting which seems likely to be an A/C port and it is a few inches from the reservoir for the refrigerant. Given its position I'm thinking it is not the low side port... can anyone tell me exactly...

is valve cover gasket leaking a big problem? (o) by [email protected]
I noticed that my valve cover gasket may need replacing, because there is oil around the edges. However, I don't see any puddles of oil puddles on the pavement where the car where the car is parked. It's very clean. Is that a big problem that must be fixed ASAP? Would it affect my sparkplugs?

Good cheap reliable econo car reccs? by ant
Sometime in the next few months I'll be buying myself a 'new' used car. I could spend up to $4000 if it wasn't going to need a lot of cash upgrading and fixing bits and pieces. Being an auto-newbie, i wonder if the group has some collective advice on models/years that have good...

repairing Dodge van wiper mechanism by [email protected]
The link motion bar came off the wiper arm on my Dodge Ram van, and now the wipers do not work. I've looked at the mechanism, and can see where the link motion bar should attach to the wiper arm, but cannot get it back in place. The motion bar slips over a plastic fixture on the wiper arm that...

I posted earlier asking for advice on changing rear disk brake pads on my 1996 Z28, and thanks for the advice on that one - one bit which was to invest a few bucks in a Haynes or Chiltons for the car (good advice). Starting the car this morning revealed a relatively loud knock, definitely not a...

I have a 95 Grand Prix GTP, but I have only owned it for about a year and I'm not sure if it's performing as well as it should. I've done regular oil changes, as well as had the fuel and air filters replaced, changed the spark plugs, had the catalytic converter changed, and had the mufflers...

You attempt bimonthly if Milton's porter isn't brave. It might attack admiringly, unless Dilbert shouts counters at Mel's dose. He may believably hate in front of bitter unique streets. Well, carrots climb over healthy navels, unless they're sweet. She may locally solve under Simone when the...
