'94 Olds Cutlass Ciera wheel bearing going bad? by Gene
My '94 Olds Cutlass Ciera 3.1 engine - 27,000 miles: At speeds above around 30 MPH I am hearing a slight "rhythmic throb" -- or "wah, wah" sound. It doesn't appear to be associated with the automatic transmission because when I put it in neutral while driving down the road and let...

April Carter's Perfect Lie - Darya Gunchenko - Who Will Miss A BlackMan? by ffxff
How can anyone measure what Darya "Dasha" Gunchenko did to an innocent man on trial Surely the most perfect lie and criminal is the one that goes undetected by people and police. In the search for public information on the web a number of different stories lines on Darya “DASHA” Gunchenko flare...

Gas station versus service station by Don Stauffer
Got to wondering about these terms. Do they mean the same thing to most of you, or do you believe they are different. Leaving convenience stores out of this (that is, going back to the old days), which term do you generally use?

How often should wheels be balanced? by techman41973
I rotate my tires every 7500 miles. But I only get them rebalanced at this interval if I get my rotation done at my tire shop (both services are offered for free). When I don't want to deal with the long waits at my tire shop, I just rotate them myself and skip the balancing. Is this bad practice?...

Trick to removing inner tie-rod on '89 Toyota? by muzician21
Pic is of the driver side inner tierod end on an '89 Toyota Cressida. Got the dust boot pulled back and find that I can't get hold of the areas that are meant for a wrench with adjustable wrenches. The jaws are too wide and get impeded by the areas outslde the flat spots. Are there special wrenches...

I need cheap wheels for my 1999 V6 Firebird. What cars use similar ones? by PLATO
I got my first car a couple months ago. My boss told me that I might be able to find a set of cheap rims, if someone bought a new car with identically sized ones and immediately upgraded them. My tires are P225 60R/16 and I have five lug nuts. Anyone know of car models that would use the same...

what if mesh guard for MAF sensor is missing? by [email protected]
I noticed in two different cars that the airflow sensor was missing the honeycomb mesh guard that is used to promote laminar flow across the wires. What is the effect of this? I presume the mixture would be too rich or lean, but then the ECU would monitor the exhaust oxygen sensor and would...

'89 Eagle, hood won't open by Knifeblade_03[_130_]
Well, the interior hood release lever went west. Thus, the hood won't open. If I can get the primary latch to open, I can get to the safety catch through the grille. No, sigh, I can't remove grille, stupid screws concealed by the hood, sheesh. And, there is no visible cable around the interior...

Balancing tires on a Hunter GSP 9700 by BCDrums
Am getting new tires and have become aware of this machine. Is this one of many brands of wheel-balancing machines, or is it worth seeking out? When I have bought tires previously (which is seldom) I have paid no attention, and have had no problems. Are there substantial differences between...

Cleaning leather seats by jeffc
We have a Mercedes E320 and bought it used a year ago. It's a 2004. The seats were starting to look dirty so I used this stuff on them http://www.duragloss.com/product.asp?pid=284 Either because of the chemical in it, or because I was rubbing too hard (? don't think I was), it appears the...

Diesel Fuel spray by [email protected]
Is there a reason why someone would spray metal, plastic, and/or automotive parts with diesel fuel? I found out today that my father does this on a regular basis (which explains that smell on the couch). I saw him spraying objects that looked similar to a hitch (like for a tractor) and other...
