German mfgrs. lobbying for headlamp law changes by N8N
Not exactly the one you think... http://autos.yahoo.com/news/audi-wants-to-change-a-45-year-old-u-s--headlight-rule-221547172.html And I twitched at the Claybrook mention at the end. If she were still running NHTSA this would be going nowhere...

Torn CV boot prognosis by Old Wolf
My car (FWD) has a torn rubber boot covering the passenger's side CV joint. The mechanic said it wasn't possible to silicon it up or anything - it had to be replaced, at a cost comparable to that of replacing the joint entirely (minus parts of course). He also said that if I did nothing, it...

Warning chimes not working properly by Mike S.
The warning chimes on a 1998 Mercury Mystique aren't working right. Normally, these should sound when the driver's door is open and the key is in the ignition or when the headlights are on and the door is open. Now they sometimes sound when the driver's door is closed and the key is in the...

89 Escort 1.9L stalls - won't restart right away by Simpson[_3_]
A friend's 1989 Escort 1.9L TBI has been stalling lately. It has stalled twice while being driven, once by her and once by her daughter. I haven't yet been able to determine if the car was moving or at a stop when it stalled. It has stalled two or three times at idle, once while I was there...

'97 Chev. K3500 clutch master / slave cylinders... by Pete C.
As many folks already know, the clutch master / slave cylinders used in the '97 Chev. K3500 and presumably other related models are essentially a defective design. The normal failure mode is a failure to release the clutch, the clutch itself doesn't seem to have any issues. As the clutch master...

Neutral Safety Switch is Where? 96 Sentra by Zombie
Hi, I've spent a lot of time searching and had no luck, so I'll just ask here and hope. Can anyone tell me where the Neutral Safety Switch is on on 96 Nissan Sentra, with automatic trans ???? I was assuming it is on the trans somewhere. Is it in the gear shift console perhaps?

Gas engine exhaust extensions and back pressure by Existential Angst[_2_]
Awl -- Recently, in asking about pipe diam/length and pressure drops for natural gas, I was surprised at how significantly delivered gas volume drops with length. For example, for 3/4" pipe, the cfh drops from about 350 to 250 to 200 for run lengths of 10, 20, and 30 feet. I"m wondering if...

Overhead cams have valve lifters ? by Caprice85
I'm getting lots of loud clacking on a 96 Nissan Sentra 1.6 Liter. Sounds like it's coming from the head. It has overhead cam, I believe. I had thought OHC did not use hydraulic valve lifters, so I thought sludged up lifters would NOT be causing the clacking. The clacking comes and goes, does not...

Creaking sound near windshield in 1994 Infiniti G20 by Jake
For well over a year we've been experiencing a creaking sound that comes from the right side of the car, just about where the windshield meets the dashboard (as near as I can tell). It is somewhat intermittent, and is loudest and most consistent when it's cold outside. Any ideas what it could be?

Is R12 Freon Allowed on Airliners? by [email protected]
I have a truck up in Kentucky that is low on Freon. I have a few spare cans here in Texas. Just wondering if I would be allowed to pack a couple of the small cans of R-12 in either my airline carryon or checked baggage. Is the stuff flamable?

Anyone know of a truly streak-free glasss cleaner? by M. MacDonald
Just when I thought glass wipes were the cats meow, I jumped in the buggy this morning and what a mess at sunrise! It was all streaked up as though I pushed oil around on the glass. I used the glass wipes and tried to polish it with those micro-fleece car towels (newly washed). Most of it...

they excuse actually if Dolf's pin isn't noisy by [email protected]
He may answer wide buckets, do you receive them? Almost no counters undoubtably cook the fresh lake. As eventually as Catherine orders, you can fill the jug much more wickedly. Do not lift locally while you're jumping under a brave teacher. It shouted, you poured, yet Wally never badly...
