buy auto parts online? by
RayV
I need a distributor for a 1999 accord V6.
Any reliable online sites? Local places are looking to get $500 for
the part.
I found a couple but of site but even though I picked the car and 3.0
engine the results kept coming up with a 2.3 distributor.

Why buy a larger pickup instead of a smaller pickup by
[email protected]
Hello. I would first like to start off by stating that I know nothing
about buying a pickup truck, but I know that I want to get one. I did
some looking around and found that there are a huge amount of trucks
that I could choose from, and I don't know where to start. I see that
there are multiple...

Exhaust manifold no longer made- option? by
Bubba[_2_]
I've found it nearly impossible to find an exhaust
manifold for my '79 Ford Granada with the
250 ci six. Mine is cracked in two.
No major auto parts stores carry it and Ford says
it's no longer made.
I've searched every junkyard in a 75 mile radius.
What are my options? I've heard they don't...

Oil Change Interval for Synthetics by
The Doctor
Hi all, I'm thinking of changing my '90 Acura legend over to a
synthetic oil product (Mobil 1 Amsoil..etc..suggestions?) and was
wondering what intervals I can expect between changes. One person I
was talking to said they can go to 25k. I don't know if I'd be
comfortable with that, though. The car...

One More Power-Steering related Question by
ChrisCoaster
Now that I'm driving a car with conventional power steering, I'd like
to ask this:
Are there any LEGAL and SAFE ways to modify any conventional hydraulic
PS system to reduce the amount of assist it generates, even if only
moderately??

Toyota shut down by
Steve W.[_4_]
TOKYO — Toyota is suspending production at all 12 of its Japan plants
for 11 days over February and March, a stoppage of unprecedented scale
for the nation's top automaker as it grapples with shrinking global demand.
The last time Toyota Motor Corp. halted production at all its Japan

NASCAR news by

BY JARED GALL, ILLUSTRATION BY ERIC WOODWARD

In a move sure to spark outrage, the White House announced today that GM
and Chrysler must cease participation in NASCAR at the end of the 2009

Lincoln vs Cadillac by
Bailey B
Surprised that GM didn't drop Cadillac. From my experience I find that
Lincoln Town Car is greatly preferred to full size Cadillacs. The
general consensus is that Cadillac is junk, inferior even to Chevrolet.
A limo service told me that they haven't used Cadillac in years.
Because they break...

Okay, what's the truth about engine break-in? by
Doc
There seem to be two camps. I've seen those that advocate stomping on
the engine to high revs and backing off in the initial break-in
because of some alleged benefit.
Then there's a more traditional school of thought, such as this...

Disastrous service! by
Qianli Zhuang
About one month ago, I noticed the brake and battery lights on in my 97
Nissan Sentra (83Kmile). I brought my car to a Nissan dealer service
center. I also ordered a 3K mile oil change with 100 points coutesy
check. After the check, they replaced the alternator and the left outer
CV boot.

Battery cables reversed. by
J J
If the battery cables are reversed just long enough to make the spark (1
second) what are the consequences? Is there a fuse fusible link that
is suppose to burn out?
Are there items that might of been damaged? If damaged would it be
immediate? Are there items I should check?
Thanks

Am I insane? by
Nate Nagel[_2_]
I need a pickup. I've narrowed it down to two choices, both Fords.
First candidate: '93 F150, extended cab, 6' bed, 300/automatic.
Beautiful body. everything seems to work but A/C.
Second candidate: '72 F100, "custom" trim, 6' bed, 302/3-speed. Pretty
unmolested except hubcaps are missing...

Manual Transmission problems by

I just recently bought a 2004 Subaru Outback and have had some
problems shifting the car into first and reverse. This only occurs
from a stand-still, and it happens about 10% of the time.
I took the car in and they told me that I wasn't pressing down hard
enough on the clutch. I explained that...

These innovative caps are enhancing engine power and saves up to 20%
by using the gasoline thoroughly, reducing the leftover gases (co2)
released.(Works with both diesel and gasoline)
Those caps have been used exclusively by the U.S. army for 17

Ford pickup low voltage at idle by
Nate Nagel[_2_]
I think I posted about this before, but never really got beyond two
suggestions...
Problem is this. When truck is idling, if enough accessories are turned
on, voltage will start to drop, and keep on dropping as if the battery
is discharging. Voltage at battery with key off is about 12.9...

Any true Lemons? by

There seems to be lots of cars where one person could tell you the
horror stories of *theirs*, but compared to the hundreds of thousands
of other cars identical to it that soldiered on unfalteringly, it's
relatively easy to write it off as a single 'bad apple'. Or owner
habits. etc.
But were...

Starter motors and alternators - which to buy? by
[email protected]
Hi,
Here is an ignorant question I'm hoping there is an easy answer to:
who makes the decisions when it comes to which brand of starter motor
or alternator?
Is it the auto electrician himself? Do they have preferred suppliers
and are they incentivised to stick with them?
Do consumers have any...
