'89 Crown Vic computer problem? by
Dan Youngquist
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone has any ideas for me on this problem. Car is an '89
Crown Vic, 302, EEC-IV.
For the last couple months or so, occasionally but more & more frequently,
it needs to be cranked several seconds before it starts. Sometimes the
dash lights come on normally as soon as the...

'89 Eagle, hood won't open by
Knifeblade_03[_130_]
Well, the interior hood release lever went
west. Thus, the hood won't open. If I can get the primary latch to open,
I can get to the safety catch through the grille. No, sigh, I can't
remove grille, stupid screws concealed by the hood, sheesh. And, there
is no visible cable around the interior...

'89 Ford Ranger clutch/transmission problem by
mbjj
Recently I replaced the clutch in my '89 Ranger 5 speed V6. I've put 1800
miles on it since the work and have had no problems at all. I use the truck
on occasion and decided to run it because of the several days of cold
weather we've had. I started it up and let it run a minute or 2 and...

'89 Maxima No Start by
pPhunk
So I'm working on an '89 Maxima that originally came in with a battery
drain problem. Found that the "main relay" had been grounded
constantly on (and was keeping the ECU powered up constantly), so I
disconnected the jumper-ground and that took care of the battery drain.
Without the relay...

'89 Mazda 626 hesitation resolved...for now... by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B[_2_]
While trying to run down parts, I stopped at a Mazda dealer to see what he
could offer for plug wires (uh, $79?!?!?!). He suggested I check the air
tube for cracks.
Today being a most excellent day (except for a nagging headache) I decided
to pull the tube and have a look. Looked OK to me, but...

'89 Tempo/Topaz Fan Control Module Q by
[email protected]
Have an A/C-equipped '89 Tempo/Topaz with an inoperative radiator fan.
I jumpered the fan to the battery, it works. I jumpered the relay on
the drivers side headlight, it clicks and my multimeter says it has
continuity when energized. I also tested the coolant temp sensor near
the thermostat and it...

'90 Chrysler Le Baron w/charging problem by
Chris[_12_]
If I put a meter across the battery terminals, it reads about 12.3
volts w/the motor running. But it reads at least 12.5 with the motor
off. The car is kind of funky in general electrically - sometimes the
tach and speedometer don't show anything (when in motion or revving the
engine). Radio...

'90 LeBaron tranny problem by
JustMe
Can't remember how fast I was going (or even just back out of a
parking space), but something fell onto the shifter and knocked it in
neutral. Don't know if that was the cause of it not being able to
shift beyond 2nd gear I think. Lately it seems if you idle for 10-15
minutes tranny fluid would...

'90 T-Bird electrical probs - Ignition switch? by
[email protected]
T-Bird won't start sometimes. Turns over fine, but nothing seems to get
to plugs. When it happens, seat belt doesn't move when key is turned.
Seat belt always slides into position over the door when engine starts.
Foot is on brake pedal and shifter is in park.
For months I couldn't predict if...

'91 Bonneville; working with fuel lines by
[email protected]
'91 Bonneville SE
The fuel supply line rusted out and started spraying gasoline just aft
of the connection to the short hose that leads to the fuel filter.
This is at the forward end of the steel line that is part of the
sending unit.
Of course, *all* the lines and connectors are badly rusted;...

'91 F-250 Steering Column by

I have a Ford Truck, broken actuator assembly for the ignition switch.
I bought a new one, but cannot for the life of me figure out how this
thing goes in. This is a tilt steering beast (that never tilted
before) and it looks like the tilt mechanism should come apart from the
other side of the...

'91 Mercury Sable Windshield Fluid Pump by
[email protected]
I recently bought a '91 Sable and found the windsheild fluid pump
doesn't appear to work. The wipers work (which I assume means the fuse
is good), there's a full tank of fluid, but I push the button in and I
hear/see nothing.
If I assume that the wiring is okay and that the pump is damaged,...

'91 Nissan 240SX Radiator & Thermostat Questions by
Marrow
I'm replacing the radiator and thermostat in my '91 Nissan 240SX and
have a couple questions:
For the thermostat, Nissan says to just use liquid gasket
(silicone/RTV). However, several auto parts places sell a flat gasket
part for this application. Which is better, the liquid gasket or the
flat...

'91 Sunbird hesitating for 3 years, recently getting worse by
Jason
I'm the proud owner of a '91 Pontiac Sunbird convertible, which I
bought in '93 and have generally maintained myself with a few
exceptions. 120k miles, 4 cylinder (not EFI).
About 3 years ago, I noticed that the car would hesitate when I first
started it, more often than not when it was cold and...

'92 Accord: 3,000 rpm at 70 mph... by
Existential Angst[_2_]
Awl --
Automatic, fwd, .... am I missing a gear, mebbe overdrive?
I thought most cars did 80 mph at 3,000 rpm.
If 70 at 3,000 rpm is normal for this car, can I stick in a taller gear
somewhere?
Thanks.

'92 BMW 535 problems by
Ulf
After owning my '92 BMW 535 for a couple of weeks now I've noticed a few
issues. First, there's a vibration in the steering wheel under soft to
moderate braking between 40 - 70 mph. It isn't noticeable if I brake
hard or outside the speed interval mentioned. The car also has a very
nervous...
