Generic faultfinding, engine/ECM problem by
Tim S
Hi all,
Quick question, in the hope of some magic tips :)
I've got a 1998 Daewoo Lanos 1.6 (don't laugh) with the Holden (sp?) engine
which I *believe* is basically a GM engine.
Anyway, it passed it's MOT (UK annual mandatory inspection) on Friday, with
flying colours on the emissions, was fine...

Genset voltage reg: capacitor vs. AVR by
Existential Angst[_2_]
What are the pro's/cons of each?
One pro for caps is that they are cheaper! The AVR ditty for my unit would
cost another near-$400.
The pro for AVR is, presumably, much tighter voltage regulation with load.
But mebbe AVR has its limits ito ruggedness?
The voltage swing on my genset is 250 -...

Geo A/T Park Locked? by
Steve
I just picked up a '96 Geo 4 dr sedan with an automatic transmission. The
engine wasn't running and the battery had been removed.
I need to move it and load it onto a trailer. I had the key and turned the
key to the run position and the steering column unlocked but I couldn't get
the floor shift...

Geo burbbled, then died: possible causes? by
Harry Truman
I've a friend with a '95 Geo Metro. While driving it one day, it
coughed a couple of times, then -- to used his phrase -- it died. He's
already changed the coil, throttle body, fuel filter, the plug wires
and plugs, and he claims the fuel pump is working. Other possible
causes of such a rapid...

Geo engine replacement. 2 Questions by
RTS
Hi
I have a 95 Geo Metro 1.0 L 3cyl. It burns oil. I have a lead on someone
selling a good working 96 engine. I won't put it in myself, but I would
like to buy the engine and hire the job out.
My questions a 1) Will a 96 work in a 95? 2) Is there an issue if the
engine comes from an...

GEO front spindle retention? by
Steve
I have a '91 Geo that has almost 200k miles on it. Still runs great and I'm
about to replace the front struts.
However, I have noticed a lot of play in the front end and especially on
grooved highways. I thought that it was cause by worn front control arm
bushings for maybe a bad ball joint.
I...

Geo Metro - No electrical power at al by
[email protected]
I fear the worst, but hope someone here can give me some cheap
alternatives.
My wife took the portable jump starter and decided to use it as a
batter charger while the battery was still hooked up to the car. Not a
good thing and I told her not to do it, since she blew out the last
jumper like...

Geo Metro curb weight? by
Steve
I don't have access to the manuals.
I just curious about the old Geo curb weight.
Also the later LSI sedans?
Are all LSI sedans automatic? I can't seem to locate a 5 spd.
Thanks

Geo Metro ECM puzzle by
Steve
I picked up a '92 Geo Metro 5 spd (cheap) that had been partially stripped.
It seemed like a simple matter to "Put Humpty Dumpty" together again since
there seem to be plenty in the wrecking yards.
This was true until it came to the ECM computer. I have no idea which
computer should be in this...

Geo Metro Fuse locations/discription?? by
Steve
I have two Geo Metros that are missing their interior fuse block covers,
which is the only way to tell which fuse is for What.
Until now, I could just wait for a fuse to blow and look for the obvious,
however, ever since I got this '90 Geo, the Check Engine light has been
flashing a code. I...

Geo Metro Gauge problems by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have a Geo Metro (1992, 2 door, 3 cylinder) and the fuel and
temperature gauges have started to act crazy. The temperature gauge was
particularly alarming because it indicated that the car was
overheating. I had a mechanic check it and he said the temperature is
fine and that the gauges are...

geo metro lsi/xfi by
mbjj
I have a '94 metro that I am replacing the engine in. I'm going to replace
the transmission also as long as I have it apart. My question is, what's
the difference between the metro LSi and the XFi? All of the books I have
around here don't go into it. How do I know what I have if the car...

Geo Metro R wheel bearings keep failing by
JOHN D
I've replaced wheel bearings on the same rear wheel about 5 times. They only
last a few weeks to a few months. The first failure spun in the hub so I had
to replace the drum/hub. The spindle looks ok. The last time I got another
used hub, first one was new. I was thinking that some internal...

Geo Metro Tune up info needed by
[email protected]
I have a 1990 geo metro and I am giving it a tune up. To my dismay the
emissions sticker with the data I need is gone. (the one located on the
underside of the hood) All my manual's say refer to this while doing
the tune-up.
Is there anyone out there kind enough to tell me what information is...

Geo Metro wheel hub removal by
Andrew Sarangan
I am replacing the brake rotors in the 1990 Geo Metro. The rotors are
behind the wheel hub, which can only be removed by taking the axle nut off,
and using a slide hammer to pull the hub off the axle. I am not all that
familiar with the use of a slide hammer. I bought a slide hammer...

Geo Tracker parts swappable b/w 94 nad 97 by
Tariq
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows if the hood and the front grille is
swappable between a '94 and a '97 Tracker.
I do not like the shape of '97.
Much thanks.
Sincerely,
Tariq
