GM, misfire code: how do they detect this? by ge
My brother's Safari failed the NYS inspection due to engine codes - specifically, "#6 cylinder misfiring." I'm curious as to how they detect this, particularly that they're able to isolate it to a particular cylinder. Any thoughts would be appreciated. TIA, George

As per sublect line.....no spark. Verified crank sensor working (.7v pulses), swapped ignition module with a known good one, and have 12v at the module input. I have a 92 Chevy Lumina APV van with the 3400 thats is giving me trouble. The van died on me out of town, and the shop I found, as part of their diagnostics, replaced the crankshaft sensor. It didn't help, so they put the old one back in. The problem ended up being something with the ignition,...

I need help. I'm trying to figure out how to get the error codes for my 2001 GMC Sonoma pick up. About 3 weeks ago my father replaced the fuel pump, and since then the "check engine" light has been on. 2 days ago the truck wouldn't start at all, but it had ran fine the past 3 weeks. Of course...

My 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 Pickup with 60,700 miles had severe brake vibrations. I put it in for service at a very trusted repair center.
