CO2 canister max temperature by
Nikki Casali
It's 31 degrees centigrade in my dining room where I keep my planted
aquarium. It's rather hot today! So at what temperature will my CO2
canister likely to "unload" its contents? According to the pressure
gauge, it's over 70 bar. I have just read that the critical temperature
is 31.6 degrees or...

co2 tank issues by
John H.
I have a basic CO2 setup, 5 lb bottle with regulator. I filled it a 3-4
months ago and its almost empty?
I'm checking for leaks around the seals but how many bubbles per minute is
adaquate for plants. If I dont find any leaks then maybe I just had the flow
too high? (65gal tank)
thanks
John

Fuzzy algae.. by
Troy Bruder
Hello,
I recently have been treated to a "fuzzy algae" growth all over my plants..
I need some help in identifying the type of algae it is, and how best to
treat it..
I run a UV sterilizer 24x7, but I'm starting to think that maybe the bulb
isn't working (I bought it used and was told the bulb...

SE Asian biotope confusion by
wary chicken
I currently have a ten gallon aquarium housing a female betta and a
small school of espei rasboras. I was thinking of converting the tank
to a southeast asian swamp biotope (idea from Peter Hiscock
_Aquarium_Designs_).
However, the plants suggested in the book don't necessarily grow in SE
Asia. I...

I was wondering if anyone who has an established tank could send me
some trimmings to get started. I'd gladly pay for shipping of course.
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

Help: DIY CO2 disaster by
default
Yesterday my DIY CO2 reactor (coke bottle) fell over and managed to dispense
just under 1/4 of the total mixture in to my tank(tube goes in to Fluval
filter). My wife just called to tell me the aquarium water is a milky white
color and some fish are dead. She indicated that It looked "alive,...

Brown Spots on Plant by
Jan
I recently set up a 20 gallon tank, and added some plants. One of them
developed brown spots on the leaves. You can see the photo at
It's planted in the middle of the tank, where there is more light. Could
this plant be getting too much...

Sword is flowering again, now what? by
Bill Stock
My Sword is about to flower again, although I think it's a different plant.
Once it flowers, will I get seeds or plantlets or what? Not that I really
have room for more Swords at the moment, but it's an interesting process.

Indoor Gardening by
[email protected]
A lot of people stick a fake tree in a corner, dust the leaves off
every week, and call it indoor gardening, but indoor gardening has
grown into much more than that lately. There are also a lot of people
that thinks plants belong and should stay inside, but there are many
reasons for starting an...

wallmart plant seed packs and more questions by
Jeffery Moyer
I have never grown plants B4 , how ever I have been very good at keeping
fish in my 29gal mall mart tank, and I have decided to step up the pace a
bit, give me a bit more to do with my hobby , so I reset up my tank with
some small grain sand slightly lager than what one would find in the sand...

Spring Resolution: Get Serious About my Plants by
John Sankey
I suggest Jasmine Brough's article at
http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/plants/PlantProfile1.htm
A lot of sound info there.
The number one reason for poor plant growth is inadequate light -
most need a lot of it, like 100 lumens per litre of tank
capacity.
The next common problem is the...

VHO vs. Standard Fluorescent by
John Sankey
"My light hood has a sticker that says 30" / 20watt. Does this mean it is
only safe to use a 20 watt bulb in it and that I will need to buy a new
hood, specially made to handle VHO bulbs if that's what I want to go with?"
If the VHO is marked other than 20 watts, it won't work with the
ballast in...

I gots a few plants today at my lfs and I asked for a few duckweed, I never

so small. So he gave me like 5 pieces for free. I've read posts that in a
few days this will overtake the surface? Will this happen to my tank given

Daniel Morrow
Any one interested in some hornwort? Mine is growing back strong and I will
soon either have to throw it into the compost pit or sell it to some one. If
anyone wants any and doesn't mind totally reimbursing me i can send some to
you./them. Good luck and later!
