KOEO 542 by Jay
Hello all, I have 1995 XLT, manual transmission, 130,000 miles. My son took it to work and everything was fine. When he went to leave work, it would not start. It cranks fine, but will not start. I suspected it was a fuel supply problem because I did not hear the fuel pump when I turned the...

L1440 Diag Code by Paul M
I have had an occasional failure with the ABS on my 2003 Explorer. When I turn off the ignition and then on again, the problem disappears. I brought the vehicle in for a diag today and they reported that the ABS sensors were all okay, but they were getting a code L1440 which they tell me they have...

Labor time to replace 2002 rear wheel bearings by HerkyJerky
Had both rear wheel bearings replaced on a 2002 Explorer at a local Ford dealer. The obnoxious noises from the rear of the car have been replaced by silence. An incredible difference. I am curious though.... This is shown as a 3.1 hour job in ALLDATA (I assume their times come from Ford) yet the...

Latest tire re-call by RJ[_1_]
Just received a letter from Firestone offering replacement on Wilderness AT. My never on the ground spare is subject. I want it replaced with the Michelin LTX M/S which I had put on there during the first recall. The local Firestone people will replace only with Firestone/Bridgestone product....

Lawsuit against U-Haul by [email protected]
I too have joined the disappointed Ford Explorer consumers and was appalled to find out that U-Haul had capitalized the market of trailer rentals and would not rent to this group of consumers. This is considered discrimination when there is no other company in the game as U-Haul is considered a...

Leaf Springs problems on 93 Explorer by [email protected]
I have the same year and the same problem, I read it's due to the gas tank and the driver weight on that one side.

Leaking (frozen) windows by [email protected]
I've got a problem with the windows on my 2002 XLT. All 4 windows are frozen (it just got cold here in CT). I hear the motors operating when I use the switches so I know it's not an electrical problem. When it was warmer, I would occassionally notice wet streaks on the drivers window after it...

Leaking Drivers side Rear Window by jerry
Has anyone had a problem with one of the back fixed windows leaking into the rear of the vehcile? I called around to some places that fix these type of issues, and have been told that its not the seal that is leaking, but the "SEAM" may have split and needs closing. Anybody heard of this? Jerry

Leaking Transfer Case by D.D. Palmer[_2_]
My 2003 Mountaineer seems to have a leaking transfer case. At least I think that's what's leaking...it's the boxy thing that the rear axles (right and left) are connected to in the middle. It's not leaking badly, but IS leaking. Is this an expensive repair? Any insight? The vehicle has 74000...

Leaky master cylinder 99 by Jim[_15_]
The brake master cylinder, is leaking from the rear mounting bolt area. Does anyone have experience on replacement and bleeding. Did you have to bleed the ABS with the special tool or were you able to bleed the system normally, each caliper at a time without buying the ABS bleeding tool. Are...

lease end by star_fish
Has anyone ever offered a lower purchase price at the end of your lease? How do you go about that? The business manager where we leased our suv, is no longer available and as a matter of fact the Ford dealership is no longer there. Please help!!!

Lease end question by Jim Tiberio
I know we have some Ford technicians here that are very helpful, do we have any sales members here? My question involves lease end options. I'm not sure if I'm getting real answers from my dealer as it seems he is more interested in putting me into another lease where as I'd rather buy a used...

Leather seats with cloth sides? by Joe
This is a quite random question... Is there a reason behind Ford not fully wrapping their seats in leather/vinyl? I have always owned Ford/Lincoln/Merc products and most have cloth on one side of the seat. Just curious, likely a cost cutting thing... but I would think they could just as...

Leaving the world of Explorers behind, perhaps... by John D. Goulden
In a couple of years I'll finally give up on my '91 Explorer (and its endless litany of problems - see numerous posts in this ng :) and start shopping for a regular cab, regular bed pickup (which will better suit my current and future needs than the SUV - if I get another SUV as well my spouse will...

Left directional signal won't turn off by work
My left signal light on my 98 Explorer won't turn off when I move the lever to the center or to the right. Both the front and the back continue to flash, even when I turn the ignition off and remove the key. Could this be a bad flasher or would you suspect a short? Thanks , W D
