Overheating Subaru Legacy AWD Wagon... by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B
1997 Subaru AWD wagon, "L" model, basic car. Replaced coolant and
thermostat and ran car static for an hour at a time about 3 times. Would
initially overheat (when I replaced the coolant), cold air coming from the
heater, then heat started coming from the vents and the guage went down.
As I was...

p0455 (EVAP) DTC questions by
George[_23_]
('04 Cavalier) has been setting a p0455 code. All the components seem
to be working, at least roughly:
- purge valve operates, and blocks/passes when I blow on it.
- vent valve, same.
- canister blows through. (ie, doesn't seem plugged)
- (I did change the gas cap.)
Alldata (supposedly...

purge line fitting leak? by
George[_23_]
('04 Cavalier, 110K miles) Is getting a P0455 DTC. Replaced the gas
filler cap; nada. On inspection, there's liquid in the rear fitting of
the purge solenoid. (The one in the engine compartment.) I don't see
anything else wrong there (like a crack), so maybe the o-ring is
leaking?
The o-ring...

rear seat removal, '04 Cavalier by
George[_23_]
I need to get the rear set out of our '04 Cav. The book says to press a
retainer with a screwdriver, and then lift the seat. I see the retainer
mechanism, but it's not clear where to press. Regardless,, I've pressed
on every surface I can find, without result.
Any clues would be appreciated. ...

what kind of air compressor you guys use? by
money2noise
Hey all,
I have a POS harbor freight central pneumatic 22 gallon compressor that finally died after 6 years of use. I am looking to get a fairly significant upgrade. I only use small tools like impact, air ratchet, occasionally blow out the garage, small nail guns, etc. All my tools run through...

fuel tank harness connector access; '04 Cavalier by
George[_23_]
I'm getting a p0455 DTC. So far, all the EVAP components seem OK. I'd
like to read the tank pressure sensor (FTP) voltage. It looks like the
easiest place to access this is connector C313, in the floor pan under
the rear seat.
I can get at the connector, but it's not clear that it's meant to...

13 deaths cheaper than 0 deaths by
Tegger[_4_]
Summary:
Toyota is forced to pay a fine of 1.2 billion dollars for 0 deaths.
GM pays 35 million dollars for 13 deaths.
Let's see now... Zero deaths results in a fine 34-times greater than the
one for 13 deaths.
Something is very, very wrong here...

Gas mileage drops? by
Ivan Vegvary[_2_]
1995 Toyota Tercel, 1500cc, 212,000 miles.
Took 1500 mile round trip. Cruise control set to 60-61 mph. Get 500 or so feet behind trucks in the slow lane and don't use pedals for 2-3 hours at a time. Comfortable no stress way to drive. Interstate 5, CA and OR.
First two legs = 43+ mph. (the usual)....

Where to tap for 12 volts by
Ivan Vegvary[_2_]
Need to sleep in my car for two nights while on a trip. Use a CPAP breathing machine (cigarette lighter plug) but this particular car (1995 Tercel) has lighter disabled while ignition is off.
What's the best place to tap into the system to put in a fused 12v line?
Thanks.

Shift hard to move by
Tom Del Rosso[_3_]
In the LeSabre as well as my previous cars, it was always hard to shift out
of park if the car was on a slope. Something got bound-up. This time it
was still hard to move the shift for a day after, like whatever part got
bound-up stayed that way and then corrected itself. Does this sound...
