Renovating Hondas for Income & Fun by
Elle
I was working on a friend's newly purchased but beat up 1987 Toyota Celica
yesterday. What a blast. Has anyone ever tried to make this into a (small)
for-profit hobby, where you buy beat-up Hondas, do a little body and under
the hood work, then re-sell it at a comfortable profit? What are...

Tire Gauge? by
Elle Navorski
Is there a super-duper tire gauge on the market?
I have been using a pocket protector tire gauge for years. I bought an air
compressor last summer and now check my tires' pressure at least once a
month. I have found the pocket gage cumbersome to use. I can't consistently
fit it exactly on the tire...

Drum Brake "Wunka-Wunka" by
Elle Navorski
My 91 Civic's right rear drum brake makes a "wunka-wunka" noise every now
and then when I press the brake pedal while driving and coming to a stop.
This began two days ago, after a heavy snowstorm (8 inches or more, so
around brake drum height), parking lot (at the top of a mountain) not
plowed,...

Civic idle variation by
Elle Navorski
Try thoroughly purging the cooling system of air. For this, follow the
manual's instructions to the letter. As part of this procedure, note that
it may take 40 minutes or more for the cooling fan to come on two times, so
have a magazine.
Something called the EACV (if I recall correctly) has a...

Carfax, Buying Used, & Craigslist.org by
Elle[_2_]
I finally got serious about looking for a second Honda
Civic, c. 1989-1997. A few observations:
-- A friend of mine convinced me Carfax was worth $35 for 30
days, unlimited checks. For the four cars I checked, it
revealed: (a)
Odometer tampering with two, with the advertised mileage
being over...

Ball Joints Replacement by
Elle[_2_]
91 Civic LX here, 203k miles. I am considering replacing the
front upper and lower ball joints. I have read the archives
and also many of the reports at honda-tech.com on this. A
few queries to see where the Honda technical population is
on this:
-- lifetime warranty upper ball joints may be...

Why Not Let Honda Et Al. Take Over GM? by
Elle[_4_]
Is any other Honda enthusiast struck by the U.S. Congress's
and President's effort to shore up and nationalize companies
that make terrible automobiles and have long promoted
gluttony by consumers? Why not instead compel, one way or
another, mergers with Honda, Toyota, and Subaru or Nissan...

Rear-Ended; New Bumper? by
Elle[_4_]
93 Civic DX sedan. It was a collision hard enough that the drawer
beneath the radio opened and sent the coin change I keep there flying.
As I got out, I thought I would find the Civic's rear would be partly
flattened. I was amazed that externally, the bumper only showed
scratches. The exhaust...

Burning Oil by
Elle[_4_]
1993 Civic DX, 197k miles. Purchased in July 2008, with me as second
owner. In March 2009 it started burning/losing oil at about a half-
quart per 600 miles.
-- Several times over the last couple of months I have thoroughly
inspected the areas of the usual seals: dizzy o-ring, front crank and
cam...

2003 Civic SRS Experience by
Elle[_4_]
I had an opportunity to buy a 2003 Civic LX with 81k miles on it
several weeks ago at a great price, and I did. At the time of
purchase, one of the door locks did not work, and the SRS indicator
light was on. I fixed the door lock easily, replacing the lock's
cylinder plates etc. Then I started on...

Exhaust Manifold Gasket: 91 vs. Later Years? by
[email protected]
My local import shop sold me an exhaust manifold gasket with OEM part
number 18115-P2A-003 on
the packaging. The shop claimed it would fit a 91 Civic. According to
cheapesthondaparts.com and slhonda.com, this gasket fits 96-2000
Civics.
Does anyone know if the exhaust manifold gaskets are all the...

Hi all-

Honda Civic 91 Air Conditioner Help please! by

Hello. I have been having a problem with my Civic for about a year now
and it has gotten progressively worse. Basically when I turn on the AC
I hear the compressor come on, at least I think I do, the engine idle
gets lower when I put it on, and then all I get is warm air. Its not as
hot as when I...

Where is the Oil filter in the 05 Accord I4? by
elmo
And is it easy to get to? What about the drain plug? I just have a 100
miles on it now, but I don't know if I should leave in the oil for 5000
miles as people have mentioned that Honda has a special 'break in' oil or
just to change the oil my self at 1000mi. I don't think the manual
specifically...

How do I toggle to 'outside temprature' in 2005 I4 Accord by

I cant seem to change the odometer to show the outside temp in my LX 4
banger accord. Do I have to be driving the car to be able to do it? I keep
pressing the TRIP RESET button while the key is on the 'ON' position, but it
just seems to reset the TRIP numbers. Is something wrong w/ the system...

Headline I thought I'd never see by
Elmo P. Shagnasty
in today's paper, from Reuter's:
"Reviving Honda
After harsh criticism of its new Civic, the automaker has turned to its
engineering staff to reclaim its mojo"
wow, it only took, what--20 years?
They spent the last 20 years deliberately destroying everything they
knew, but suddenly they...
