the starter and neurtral safety swich are good by
KingWalter
I've been trying to find out why my car won't start. The battery sits
at 12 volts. The lights, radio, and wipers work. I tested the neutral
safety switch by starting it in neutral reverse. After that I tried
the starter bypass
I forgot to reconnect the power to the solenoid before the...

Why not use crankshaft weights on any vee engine? by
[email protected]
Hi - I'm trying figure out if crankshaft counterweights can be
effectively used on other engines besides 90 degree v8s with
crossplane cranks.
In reading about crossplane v8s, it is explained that the crankshaft
causes pistons to go in opposite directions at each end of the engine
which would...

Another hypothetical situation by
In looking over some of the evaluations of late model automobiles, very few
were given a smiley face
where road noise was concerned.
I have ridden in some cars where the rumble from the front suspension, road
noise, wind noise were
nearly unbearable. Now, maybe in the higher end cars of similar...

!997 Mercury Sable CamShaft position Sensor by
NevadaSable
My 1997 Sable has a wierd problem. MIL light On, The only Code P0340
stored scanned at autozone. Problem Intermitant no shift out of 1st,
and no overdrive.
I understand how the ECM not understanding or getting RPM info could
cause shifting issues, I would think if I had Transmission solenoid...

Bent Clutch Diaphram fingers, how does it happen? by
phaeton
A friend of mine's gf has a VW Jetta (fully manual transmission), I
think an 05 or around that vintage. He goes to 'rescue' her because she
can't shift out of 1st gear- depressing the clutch doesn't disengage it,
and once she pulls it out of gear she can't put it into any other gear
with the...

Engine Miss in Blazer S10 4.3 Vortec by
packard
My 1993 S10 Blazer is running low speed rough idle. I replaced the
rotor and cap, spark plugs (wires are 3 years old), cleaned the EGR
valve and put a new gasket in the EGR valve.
Can anyone give me an idea of what can be causing the problem?

optilux timing light by
Nate Nagel[_2_]
a post I made just recently reminded me, I used to have a timing light,
I think it was made by a company called Optilux, it didn't look like a
regular timing light but like a big flashlight. It had a built in dwell
meter and tach (digital) among other things - might have had more
features but...

what are you guys using for rust removal/paint prep? by
Nate Nagel[_2_]
Hi all,
am thrashing on Jeep again... vehicle is mostly rust free
(surprisingly, since it's from PA) but I've started ripping the old rear
bumper and gas tank skid plate off so as to install a new rear bumper
that isn't made from poop and fail, and has proper D-ring tabs and a
Class 3...

Trouble shifting into Reverse by
[email protected]
I have an '03 Toyota Camry 4-cyl. (a made in Japan model) with 5-speed
manual tranny. Has about 30K (most of it highway).
Recently it has been more and more likely to be reluctant to shift into
reverse. Having driving manuals for 30+ years, I know most of the
tricks -- shift into first, move...

Valve guide oil seal question... by
Tegger
I know that the primary causes of high oil consumption are worn rings or
worn main bearings. However...
Is it possible for worn valve guide oil seals to contribute to high oil
usage but NOT result in a puff of smoke out the taipipe from a cold start?
Or will worn valve guide oil seals ALWAYS...

bad turn signal by

I have a 1991 Geo Prizm. When I hit my left turn signal, I hear a loud
screech that does not stop until I either turn the turn signal off or
hold it down hard. When all I hear is the screeching noise, neither
the front nor the rear turn signal lights blink at all. However, when
I hold the left...

of days later, I have only high beams. No DRL, no clearance lights or
Low beams. The...
