OBD-II: testing cat for NOx adsorption by Tegger[_3_]
I know the ECM tests the cat's oxidation-side for O2 storage by 1) commanding rich for 5 seconds to drain the cat of O2, then 2) commanding lean for 5 seconds to load the cat with O2 while 3) counting the time that passes before the secondary HO2S flips. But how does it test for proper NO (NOx)...

Bulk vs. Bottled oil at places like Jiffy Lube by [email protected][_1_]
I am on the road often enough where I need to get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube or other convenient type of oil change place. Is there any quality or performance difference between the bulk oil they use or the optional bottled oil (penzoil) that they offer for $10-$15 more? I have heard many horror...

Might be a blown head gasket, might not... How to tell? by Don Bruder
My '82 Mazda 626 - 2.0 liter inline four with no computer, in front of a 5 speed stick - has been giving me some weirdness lately that I simply haven't been able to track down. It's intermittent, so that's not helping the troubleshooting process. I *THINK* I've got it narrowed down to two "mostly...

Road noise suppression (undercoating) by Ivan Vegvary[_2_]
Would like to cut the road noise on my 2008 KIA Rondo. Not too bad but certainly not as quiet as my 2000 Silverado pickup. Would 'Great Stuff', or other spray foam sealants, sprayed on the underside of wheel wells and floor boards be of any benefit? Are there other products? Anybody done...

Oil Pressure Assumptions..... by Caprice85
I'm trying to increase the oil pressure in a 96 Nissan Sentra 1.6 Liter engine. The oil light comes on with engine hot, idling in Drive, goes out when put in neutral. I just changed the oil from 10w-30 to 20-w-50, and the light has not come on again :) But it's still making a lot of valve...

Considerations for transporting extra fuel for emergencies (suchas running out of gas, etc) in a passenger car by I hate front wheel drive, most torque must go to the rear
What are you using to carry extra gas/diesel for emergencies? Plastic or metal container? cabin or trunk? I have a wagon so I wonder if carrying the gas container in the cargo area is any safer than the cabin though. thanks
