California Motorcycle & Automobile Riding & Driving & Written Tests by
pinbob
I would like to collect in one place for a friend and all new friends out
there the very hidden California DMV motorcycle and driving tests,
completely and fairly.
As you all know, the California Motorcycle Riding Test is nearly impossible
to pass when done on your own (everyone passes when they...

Air conditioning vs DRL by
At one point, it was suggested that disabling DRL's was a fuel saving issue,
and calculations
show that for a large numbers of cars and miles driven, there is a finite
savings in fuel. This
might be statistically and regulatorially significant when combined with
other techniques which
yield small...

Existing law (2015) requires, on a 2-lane highway where passing is

Does vortec engine mean good? by
[email protected]
Hi, I was looking at a minivan - astro or safar. Is the 4.3 Vortec a
good engine? I just see it as a plus in the ads and wanted to know.
Especially since they are higher in miles (at least the ones I can
afford). Thanks.

Detroit V692 turbo elect inject motor, Allison 650 auto, by
Adam Whyte-Settlar
Hi

At this stage (online...

Justifying an impact wrench for infrequent hobby use by
AD[_2_]
I'm toying with an idea of spending $200 on a battery powered impact
wrench (at sears.com or whatever).
Aside from prying off the wheel bolts any other uses you could come up
with to justyfy the purchase?
I don't steal other people's rims for living hence I ponder if twice a
year 30 something...

Mazda OBD codes P0031 P0051 P0037 related to exhaust manifold? by
Sidney
I have a 2000 Mazda MPV that had a cracked exhaust manifold. I took it
to the dealer and they replaced it under warranty. However they still
charged me $85 to run the OBD codes. I know, I got ripped off. I just
went to AutoZone and ran the codes myself and came up with P0031, P0051
and P0037. ...

Low oil pressure, is this a common problem? by
Ulf
I've noticed that my '92 BMW 535 has a problem with low oil pressure
when parked at an incline. I made two runs getting sand today, and to
get the trailer in the right position I had to park the car in the steep
area of the driveway. Both times the oil pressure light was on when I
started the car,...

rotary engine -- what's the name ?? by
Beladi Nasralla
Recently I spoke to the Engineering Manager of a company which
manufactures rotary engines for aircraft. I mentioned to him that I
read about a "rotary" engine which is a kind of Wankel engine, but has
two paddles in the shape "X". He told me that the name of such a type
of engine is "nu-teddy"...

How does gasoline go "bad"? When? by
Existential Angst[_2_]
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2668/why-does-gasoline-go-stale-so-quickly
Basically answered all my questions -- I don't necessarily agree with it
all, but it's a good discussion.
For example, it's very difficult to oxidize a hydrocarbon without enzymes,
catalysts, and the like. And I...
