Ignition question involving use of ballast resistor by
Jack[_22_]
1987 Dodge Dakota 3.9L carbed
I recently posted on rec.autos.tech about the problems I was having with
an MSD 5900 Blaster ignition and an MSD 8202 Baster 2 coil. It seems I
could use one or the other with no problem, either the MSD ignition with
the stock coil or the MSD coil with the stock...

Do the Toyota Camry headlight polishers actually work well? by
Danny D.[_4_]
Overall, do those yellowed polycarbonate headlight deoxidizing chemicals or
1600-grit polishing solutions actually work well enough to be
indistinguishable from new?
We bought for a college kid an older Toyota Camry of the early 2002-2006
model vintage where the polycarbonate on the headlights...

Something rotten here... by

A 68 year old woman ran her car through a brick and steel wall, into a
laundromat, and damaged the wall and 5 or 6 washing machines, you know,
the big industrial ones...
She was sneaking up on a parking space when all of a sudden the car
accelerated and crashed through the wall and the washing...

It's GONE! by

THE best rust penetrant EVER is GONE!
I'm talking about GM's Rust Penetrant and Heat Riser Lubricant. I had a
nasty rusty job to do and went to the local Chevy dealer to get a can or
two, and he said they haven't had it for about 2 years (Just about the
time I bought my last can.)
He figures that...

Big transmission dilemma by
Built_Well
Two or 3 weeks ago, I drained my transmission pan's T-IV ATF and
refilled it with Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF, making the ATF fluid in my
Camry a 50/50 mix of Toyota T-IV and Mobil 1 ATF.
My goodness, you're not going to believe this. Toyota recommends T-IV
fluid *AND* ATF WS fluid for the exact...

brake line rust by
George[_23_]
I was under our car ('04 Cavalier) recently, and noticed that the brake
lines are starting to rust. So far, it looks to be just on the surface,
but it will get worse.
Is there anything practical to do, to prevent further deterioration?
Thanks,
George

Its reputation for delivering safe, reliable, quality-engineered

on the muscle, are pressuring the automaker to act openly and quickly.

C'mon now...how sneaky can you get?!?!? by

Over the years I have seen the Ct State police use just about anything for
an unmarked car, the usual Crown Vics, an occasional Chevy Impala of one
vintage or another. In the 80's they used Mustang 5.0s and Mazda MX6s for
undercover work.
Imagine my surprise when on a work trip to Hartford today I...

A little spare time to think. Remembering my Chevy Vega.. by
Otis
Over the years, the inevitable subject of worst cars ever comes up,
and the Vega
is always at or near the top of the list. I've seen it a hundred
times. I feel I should
put in a good word for the little car.
My sister got a new Vega in early 1973 (a stripped-down one at that,
about as basic
