Theft-Deterrent alarms by Desi
2007 Ion 3 "Theft-Deterrent" I have found the "theft-deterrent" alarm to be a major nuisance. It is very easy to set it off accidentally ( e.g. arm it with the FOB then unlock the door with the key). This will get you evil looks and unkind words if it happens in the church parking lot. I...

Thermostat in 1993 SL1 by Gary Compton
I need to remove the thermostat in my 1993 SL1 to flush out mayonnaise-like gunk caused by a blown head gasket; oil mixed with the coolant. I pulled the elbow that covers the thermostat, but found that the thermostat is built into it and held in place by a strong spring that I couldn't get any...

Thermostat problem on VUE by [email protected]
Last Friday I brought my 2002 V6 Vue to the dealership for a SES light on. They checked it out and found code P0128 on. This is the Cooler Thermostat (Cooler temp below thermostat regulating temperature). It is a 2 hour job to replace it so I made an appointment to have it repaired the next Friday....

Thinking about parting out a '95 SW2 in Wisconsin, any takers? by [email protected]
The whole thing is in good shape except the engine is gone. Replacement costs more than the blue book value of the car. It's fairly clean, having only 78k miles.

This is an interesting newsgoup by LEVIATHAN
Truly a study contrasting the inteligent against the idiots and the wishfull thinking. But still worth the time to read. Fun. Could be more posts.... I was just given a 97 SL2 by my father. Its in great shape for a Saturn. My father implores me to trade it for a tranny to put in my 87 Ford...

thoughts on saturn ion 1 by Scot
What are peoples thoughts on the 2004 Saturn Ion 1? Pros/Cons. Is it really true that Saturn does not negotiate on price? Thanks, Scott

Throttle plate sticking -- fixed, but a question by [email protected]
95 SW2, automatic, "alternative fuel" model (burns oil). The throttle plate was sticking, and opened it up to find lots of black grime, which I cleaned out. Now it is working nicely, but it begs the question -- how did that stuff get there in the first place? Is it symptomatic of other problems...

thump thump thump sound 93 sw2 by
Dear folks, My 93 sw2 saturn is making a thump thump thump sound when I drive it. It doesn't make the sound when the engine is running and you're sitting still. It gets faster when the car speeds up. The sound sounds like it is coming from the engine compartment just about in the center (doesn't...

Time to say good bye..... by James1549
Well after 16 years of owning my '92 SL2, it is time to move on. I just bought a new Crossfire as I am approaching mid-life :) The car held up very well considering what others have to say. It has had the best paint job on any car that I have owned. All the paint is still original and shines as...

Timing Belt by Bill B.
Hey Guys: I have a 01 SC1 3 door coupe 5 speed. Does anyone know at what mileage you are supposed to replace the timing belt. Some foreign cars say 60000 miles, but was not sure on the Saturn. Also when you close the sunroof, you hear a sound like a plastic gear clicking. Anyone else have that...

Timing belt inspection by Ted Wong
Hello: I've got about 110K miles on the original timing chain. Is there a relatively trivial way to inspect the chain, or to diagnose it for wear? Judging from the Chilton repair manual, opening up the engine and doing a visual inspection is quite an involved procedure, especially for an amateur...

Timing Belt Question by NukeDude
I have a 2005 Vue FWD with the Honda V6 engine. Does anyone have any input as to how far I can push the timing belt change? I have 61k on it but lost my job and really don't want to spend the $$ right now if I can put it off safely. Thanks for any input.. JohnS in Sandy Eggo, CA

Timing belt slippage by Sherry
I am the owner of a 2000 Saturn Wagon, which has been in Winnipeg's Point West Saturn repair shop for the last 3 weeks. Apparently the car sustained massive internal damage (repair costs of $5500.00 CAN) because its timing belt slipped. The Saturn mechanic says the damage that occurred to the...
