Battery/Cable/Altenator?? by
Laurie
I week and a half ago I had my car battery replaced.
I have a 1995 SL2 standard, this is the second battery for the car.
When I went to the garage I could not start my car, I had to push it to
start it, the battery was dead.
Once the car was running the garage guy took one of the battery...

Belt is screeching again by
mrichards
I just replaced the belt on my 97 SL1 this past Dec. and it has started
slipping again when first starting. I checked to see if there was any oil
on it and it looks clean. I have about 174k miles on it and was wondering
if the tensioner could be weak or pulley is locking up. Anyone have...

Belt tensioner 94 SL2 by
Maksym Polyakov
I need to replace serpentine belt tensioner. Is it really necessary to
remove the right upper mount as Chilton recommends?

Belt tensioner, 97 saturn SL2 by
[email protected]
My belt suddenly became loose yesterday, and I'm fairly familiar with
how to work on cars. However when i try to get my belt back on and
tight I can't get the tensioner to stay taught. Is there a trick to
getting it to stay because I've heard they're self adjusting so maybe
my tensioner is just...

Bert-
You seem to live 24/7/365 on this Saturn message board, while I come
on here maybe once every 3 months posting a new epidemic Saturn defect
that starts to show up on their cars.
Do you have stock in Saturn Corp.? Do you have stock in that Chinese
company that marketed all that poison...

Best and Worst Vehicles you've ever owned: Time to Renew thisdiscussion by
suburboturbo
Was planning to start up a similar group when I found this ancient
history and figured now was as good a time as any to reactivate it.
My personal top five:
2004 WRX wagon: what you get when you crossbreed a Porsche 911 and a
Jeep Cherokee. Does absolutely everything well. Runs fast...

Best Service in DC area? by
L
I need to have my car serviced and I'm looking for recommendations on
the best Saturn dealer to go with in the DC area. The Alexandria
location is closest to me, but I've called them twice and left
messages, and nobody ever called me back...plus I've been reading some
not-so-good reviews about...

Best time to shift?.... by
oh123
hello,
I've been wondering this for quite a while. I've got a 99 SL1, manual
trans, and was wondering: when is the best time to shift? Especially
concerning gas mileage, is it better to shift around 2,000 rpm's if
accelerating slowly? How about the best shift points to save on
engine/trans...

Best tires to buy for SW2 by
J B
About a year or so ago I read a thread on here that mentioned a tire
that some drivers wanted to buy for their Saturns. Seemed the consensus
was that brand was the best and helped make for a real smooth ride.
Considering how low my SW2 sits I'd like to get tires that would help
make riding in it as...

Better Shifting by
marx404
Perhaps this is a silly question for someone like me, but perhaps this is
the best place to post this question. I consider myself "adequate" with a
manual transmission and would really like to improve on my shifting skills.
Is there a web site that can help me? TIA

BG vs Techron by
marx404
We have a dirty little '03 SL1. ONe mechanic says use BG fuel injection
cleaner ($30. a can at Saturn), another says use Chevron Techron (Auto Parts
Store $3.00). The second one says that Techron is better and cheaper (I
agree cheaper).
Which is better or are they the same? From my experience, BG...

Are these any good? I have my eye on the Michelin Harmony, but the
sales guy suggested these - they apparently have an 80k wear rating, et
cetera. Any thoughts appreciated.

Bird Poop? by
[email protected]
I know this may seem like a silly question, but I really could use some
help on this. The other day a Bird decided to dump on the Roof of my
L300. Well I did not notice it at first and it kind of baked on in the
Hot Sun. When I did finally get it off, it seemed like it damaged the
clear coat a...

My saturn, 96 sc2 150k oil is getting blacker and blacker and I am
using about 1 1/2 quarts between oil changes. I use to change oil
every 3000 miles but have started moving it up to 2500 because of the
color. I started with mobil one oil synthetic from about 75k miles but
since about 125k have...

Black plastic repair/patch by

I recently misguided the LW200, partly sideswiping (in reverse) against
a fence post. Caught the edge of the passenger side mirror and its
housing is cracked. Also have a light but visible scratch about 2' along
the side door. Short of a trip to The Dealership or indy body shop, is
there an...
