Well, hot diggity but the male was all over the place and im pretty sure managed to mate with one if not more of the females :-) So, the question is, what now?? Heh, I just got your subject line :-) :-) Anyway, my local Petco will accept some fish as donations, which they will adopt out for no cost. This might be an option with fish shops near you. Thats what i was thinking Otherwise, you may want to find a school or university that might want them for classrooms or research. Not sure i could do this, not that im squemish particularly, but dont think that the wife or kids would be too happy with this option Lastly, maybe you could find someone who wants to set up a new tank; you could provide them with a fish stock at little or no cost. Well, we had two female white mollies in a tank upstairs and moved them this evening to the 50 gallon tank downstairs which had a male and female. Unless you want to be overrun by the fry, go out and get some tiger barbs and let nature take it's course. [At one point, I had a couple hundred fry in a 20 gal tank, all from one male and two females. Finally gave the lot to the LFS, since I couldn't re-home as fast as the adults produced young.] Maggie |
I'd say sit back and enjoy. Live birth is a pretty cool thing to watch.
unfortunately, this morning, the female he was most interested in is gone, dunno where :-( -- Gone? How can she be gone? Has she done a Nemo and managed to make it to the sea do you think? Have you found any stones in the filter? |

Has she done a Nemo and managed to make it to the sea do you think? Have you found any stones in the filter? I have often lost sight of a fish or snail for days only to have it reappear. Especially in a planted tank. I was surprised to find two young platties that were obviously over a month old down in the vegetation. Then again, I have once or more found a carcass on the floor or in a filter. Keep looking. dick |
