Many if not most of the damsels bought for cycling tank land in the toilets because aquarists got them without knowing what fish they are. Amen to that. But if you REALLY have to do a fish cycle then a common black molly will suffice, they will withstand the high salinity and can be given away afterwards... -- **So long, and thanks for all the fish!** I recommend not to suggest that either unless it was dead already. I was told somewhere that you could put in part of the cleanup crew during the cycling. Is this correct? -Chris Yes, depending what do you consider your cleanup crew. Hermit crabs (blue legs) are pretty hardy, but snails do not withstand very high ammonia spikes... I would not put any live animals until you will have ammonia on your downhill. Nitrites following ammonia are less poisonous in sal****er and you could slowly start putting animals during 2nd cycle phase. |
Would this be a good set-up for me? http://www.exoticaquaticsinc.com/sho...?catalog.htm&1 Also seems like a good price. Thanks, ....DeeOooGee |

"DeeOooGee" wrote in message news:pR2ld.88985$R05.40828@attbi_s53... | I am already beginning to feel that Seaclones are not that good. Hopefully | the break in period on this is long and it will straighten it's self up ;-) | There are several "mods" that can be made to these units that will increase thier effectiveness, I have tested some of them on a Seaclone, (which is back in the box now) and it worked. I read of one person who used several of the mods listed below and it produced so much thick, nasty skimmate that he drilled a hole in the side of the collection cup, attatched a tube, and fed it into a gallon jug so he wouldn't have to empty it twice a day. Make a mess when they overflow. http://reefcentral.com/diy/seaclone_modifications.htm billy |
"Rod" wrote in message ... Live rock is one of the first things to be added. Cured or uncured.. If you had rock shipped in, it is uncured, and will require a longer cycle. and as far as seaclones go, most people call them suck clowns. Its unfortunate that store push these skimmers on people :-\. but I know there is no place to shop in Rockford Good Luck I stand corrected. |
