Algea Problem

Using water from faucet, you are introducing unwanted element [phosphate / chlorine / anmonia / metal / organic ..etc ] to your tank. In this case, I am not surprise your tank get diatom / algae growth with each water changes. Unless your water source is VERY clean, then above statement do not apply to you. Either you can try to eliminate your nutrient source [faucet] by using filter water from RO/RODI or filter water vendor. Anything beyond 3 to 5ppm reading from TDS meter may cause problem. Goal is to have close to undetectable reading for your tank. Having like 3ppm may promote some algae growth which I am doing to feed my refugium. Turbo snail or any varies type should take care of cleaning the tank side [IMO]. CapFusion,... |

Most reefers use RO (Reverse Osmosis) or RO+ DI (De Ionised).
