Question on Changing Filter Types

By clean I mean not used, and NO chemicals in them. Your average dish sponge has toxic chemicals in it and cannot be used. I made my own because I got tired of the ones in the shops you can buy that tend to float up. They're also a great thing to "seed" a new tank and add the benificial bacteria to it. Please tell me what type of sponges I need to look for in the stores. I tried them all my friend and ya know what works best? Thats right finding a supplier in China and shipping them over Serious hey, I got 12 grades of foam in huge chunks or sheets. Doing everything from large marine sumps all the way thru to soaking little bits in water, freezing them and then drilling out and carving new powerhead sponges. Sounds like effort I know but I REALLY REALLY wish I did this a decade or so ago. Oh how I wish I did. You can get every grade. and they are very light so not much to ship. if it sounds too much get some with your mates or club. no, I ain't about to post my contact. Is part of my bussieness! But believe me, this is the advice I wish someone gave me. If that means anything look into it. The chinese are legends and I take back anything I ever bitched about quality. Between the chinese and germans I have kept almost everything aquatic alive in galss boxes. :-) 2 thumbs up from Swarvegorilla!! |
