If you have live rock, the sand will become live in a few months.

San Fransisco Bay brand has a nice assortment of
frozen foods in cubes that you punch out of the package.

I took over my wife's two reef/fish tanks because she lost a couple of grand
on coral.

Turned out it was the nitrates and I pretty much fixed that problem by
cutting way down on feeding and removing the bio balls. Now I'm changing a
lot less but I'd like for the changes to get down as low as possible.

Aqua1 & 2 has about 9 fish and assorted coral. I took large pictures so you
can basically see what's going on. Aqua2 has a shrimp and an anemone that
are, of course, are hidden.

My question is. How would you guys feed these tanks? I'm running out of the
food that we started with.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Please ask any questions you need to ask.

Thanks

If you can find the Omega One brand, they seem to have less water and more
product in their cubes. That's my observation and the opinion of the guys at my
LFS (which sells both brands).

And why would it be better?
SanFranciscoBay brands are usually raw plankton frozen.
More natural form of food for fish than a concentrated mixture.

I'm paying for 100 grams of stuff, let's say Mysis shrimp. If 20% of what's in
the cube is water, I'm getting 20 grams of water and 80 grams of shrimp. If 10%
of what's in the cube is water, I'm getting 10 grams more shrimp.

Now, is that actually the case? Well, having used both, I can say that there
certainly appears to be more water in a cube of the San Francisco Bay brand
product. The owner of the local LFS feels the same way. He sells both. I will
buy SFB if Omega One is sold out.

I sold a lot of the omega one flake food. It's one
of the best flake food manufactures on the marked.

I never tried their frozen foods.

I agree it is cheaper - no argument there... but is it really better?
I mean better not for your walet, but for the animals you feed?

What would you consider better food for yourself: highly concentrated
and highly processed food or maybe raw, unprocessed fresh & natural food ? :-)

I never said Omega One was cheaper - it's the same price as SFB in this area.

Did anything I wrote imply that the Omega One is more highly processed? I've
seen nothing to indicate that it is. As far as I can tell, they simply drain
more water out of the batch before packaging it. In any case, it's raw,
unprocessed (unless you want to argue that the packaging process is
"processing", in which case, all food is processed), natural food, but one can't
claim that any frozen food is "fresh."

If there is more water in the same priced unit than it make it more
expensive per amount of food you get in the package...

Compare list of ingredients between these two products.
Note chemical additions, preservatives, etc.

I don't have an SFB package handy. The Omega One package reads "INGREDIENTS:
100% Whole Mysis Shrimp. No preservatives added."
