You know if this kissing gouram (little sh*t) was not so mean I would
love to keep him, he is pretty and funny to watch, just mean, has a
chip on his shoulder

what gets large....gourami's? I don't know how big they get for sure, my two
year old gourami is not all that big, however my pl*co is growing, I had
posted some where yesterday I was at my friends house yesterday and she has
a pl*co who when sucking on tank straight up and down (top to bottom) has to
bend his tail, he is in a 55g tank, she is trying to convince me to put him
in my 120g, but he is such a monster I don't know, but I loved just watching
him he looked so neat.

I have the gourami's in a 40g tank now.....

You do know how big kissing gouramis get, don't you (?) because by
their 3 year, 40 gals. isn't going to be enough room for a pair of
them, let alone any other fish. Kissing gouramis were one of those fish
that I didn't read up on because they were so common to see, even in
community tanks. We had a couple of pairs at the pet store years ago,
we ended up having to put into our 3000 gal. tank. Those things got to
be 14" to 16" long! ............. Frank

No i did not really know but do have tanks that can hold them when they get
there....I'm the one with the empty 120g because i have not got around to it
yet......
I guess they get much bigger then the blue gouramis then? my blue is still
not very big, i thought he would get bigger then what he is...that is why he
is still in the 40g
Thanks for the info, i guess its something i should have known, i always go
on and on telling people why they should not be buying pacu's not knowing
about how big they get ect...i got my first pacu when i was young way before
having kids, last one died last year and he was a monster

The kissing gourami's can get quite large, larger than all the others I've
seen in stores or people's tanks. My pearl gourami's got nearly 6" long
after a few years. They were in a 55g tank.

yeah as long as I let him.....he likes to think he has some say, as long as
I find cichlids I like they will go in that tank.....when we *I* started
tanks again he said I just want one tank with fish I want, I said yeah ok
when we get another big tank, not thinking we would, now we have one...but
he works 72 hours a week.. kind of hard for him to go buy fish so he has to
count on me to get them for him, he wants some blue lobster also, he has
wanted a cichlid tank since seeing my fathers years back took up one wall
and had caves and stuff in it, he had some very nice cichlids in it, so I
think that is kind of what he is thinking about. we will see
