Just a hello to say I made it through surgery and all is well. I will say my Doc has got to share his way of harvesting bone from the hip for the bond graft. The way the orthopedic Doc's do it causes people a huge amount of pain....and they seem not able to walk to well after the operation. I was fine, not much pain at all there. Just a little pain from the muscles that were cut through when getting in and out of bed...but walking didn't hurt a bit. Great! Sounds like you were lucky or techniques have improved since my operation. How about the neck? Any pain there? |

Hi all.
I kept freaking out all the shift nurses and nurses aids by walking on my own (which was a little too often because of the IV had me running to the potty every half an hour until they finally turned it down, lol). I'm off to get hubby to help me do water changes today. They've gone 2 weeks without one now and are over due. Have a Betta day all! |

Sounds like you were lucky or techniques have improved since my operation. How about the neck? Any pain there? I guess I don't need to tell you to keep up the physio - I still do mine two years on from time when necessary although of course my op was different to yours (although pretty much just as drastic) but it's all much the same theory....actually I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself tonight as I was helping hubby out on one of his installs and was able to lift stuff that would have been unimaginable even 6 months ago - to a certain degree I put it down to the gradual build up of strength again from algae scraping the tanks although I do still tend to avoid using my left arm but sometimes I can't help it.... BTW I know what you mean about the fluids - I added to the problem by having a raging thirst - in the end the nurses turned off the drip and begged me to stop drinking water - lol Good luck again.... Sounds like you were lucky or techniques have improved since my operation. How about the neck? Any pain there? Great! Sounds like you were lucky or techniques have improved since my operation. How about the neck? Any pain there? First off I'd like to say sorry to those I sent a reply that went to their mail box instead of on here. I'm still getting used to the new way I get here. Ok...neck is doing pretty good. I hurt today, but that could have been from being on the puter, or trying to cut back on the meds more than I should have. I am trying to be as straight as possible and not look down at the key board...but I am not good at typing at all, so it's hard for me not to. As for the meds, I have been going longer in between doses and today I also cut the pill in half. By this afternoon I was hurting more than a 1/2 a pill could handle. 10 hours of owie and I took a whole one. Now I'll try tomorrow on a whole pill and see if being on the puter is what's hurting me. I'm not on even close to what I am normally on, so we'll see. Other than today, the neck is pretty good. I can turn a little more now too, but still slowly of course. In the moring I must drive my daughter to school, as hubby just went back to work after being off for 2 weeks with me. Doc said I could, but not being able to turn my head all the way and quickly doesn't sound like I can just jet off in my Mustang and head for the stores. No way. A few side streets to school and back is it for sure!! I'm just going to have to watch how I accelerate. (This little mama's got a need for speed!! LOL). Thanks all for the well wishes. I can't wait until I won't have to wear this collar anymore. It drives me nuts and I hate anything to rest on the front of my neck. I get a choking feeling if something is touching it (I can't wear turtle necks because of this) and it's taking a lot of getting used to. |
