Algea Problem

Can anyone tell me what this is and how to get rid of it. Its all over my
tank. Tank is about a month and a half old.

Diatoms. Just wait. It will likely go away soon. Outbreaks of this are
fairly common soon after a tank is set up.

Odd, it lessened, but never really went away in my tank, 6 months
old. The snails and hermits keep it under control, but I still have
to wipe it off the glass pretty regular.

Sure, I keep the front and one side of the tank glass as clean as
possible to make it easier to see inside, which is the point of
having it.g My soft sponge algae stick seems to work best on this
stuff..be sure not to use a blade-style scraper on acrylic.

Diatom algea. This is very normal in a new tank, and unless you have
extra silicates in your replacement water it will go away. If you have
to much silicates in your replacement water you will have a diatom
outbrake at every water change, as well as normal growth just from the
top off water.

What type of water do you use to your tank? Do you water direct from the
faucet or from where? Do you use filter water?
