Advice please Parrot fish turning Black???

Hi , i've had a few problems with my parrot fish over the past 10 days or so
, he seems to be back to his normal energy levels , he has suffered from a
fungus growth , which i have medicated for and it seems to be
improving..........But now he seems to be going Black ? , his natural colour
is orange , the last time one of my parrots went that colour they where
about to lay eggs , but this parrot i'm almost certain is a male ? What is
the black colouring he is getting likely to be ? i had noticed a small
amount of black on him around 3 weeks ago , but it appears to be spreading.

I've been quite lucky with my fish over the past 4 years , but this poor
fellow seems to be making up for past good fortune , he's around 2 years old
and i 've had since he was around 2 months old....

The black marking seems to be a mystery to me as there not a fungus i
presume , its his skin that has changed colour.

It's a normal response for BP's that are stressed from illness, poor water
quality, moving, etc. Some never have it, some have patches for their whole
life - it's just another Parrot oddity. It used to be called 'black spot
disease' but it's not really a disease at all, just a reaction.

I hope that when people write "flush it down the toilet", they are
just joking, and I hope that newbies to the sport of aquariums
understand that flushing is not a good way to get rid of a dying fish.

I've not yet had to do this (thankfully). How do you euthanase a dying
fish properly - my LFS has a policy of not discussing this with
customers and the advice out on the internet is quite varied?

==========================
I can't bring myself to euthanize them. I have a small tank I put them in
with an airstone and let nature take it's course. Occasionally one will
revive or get better on it's own. I can't explain why or how that happens
since I don't medicate fish that appear to be dying. The last was the
miraculous recovery of a young blue mirror koi already on it's side when I
brought it in. You should see it now.

Cut the spinal cord with scissors, right behind the head. Anything
else and the fish suffers - sometimes for a while.

A meat cleaver works well. One whack and the fish is dispatched.

I agree. Mine are buried in the flower beds. They add fertilizer and
there's no chance of disease (should they have something contagious) getting
into the nearby rivers or lakes.

There's a gardening show on the CBC that takes call in questions. It sounds
oh so straight laced and grown up and, well normal. One day some blue haired
old dear called about her Rhododendron, and it was clealy chloritic.

She asked what the best thing to do for it was. The guy said "bury a cat
under it". That's really what he said.

(She opted for blood meal)

That's a really encouraging story. I'll think twice about hurrying
things along if I ever get into that kind of difficulty with a fish.

Something to acidify the soil that contains Iron works great......... on
Azaleas as well. ;-)

I use Ironite and sulfur myself.

Research fish euthanasia (if I spelt that right). Pros use MS-222 iirc
to tranquilize or kill in higher dosages. Hobbyists can effectively use
clove oil for euthanising. Sold in the pharmacy (drug store) for
tooth-aches (freezes gums).

If it isn't it's breeding color, then the darkening is a symptom of
illness - bacteria infection, due to poor water quality... A loss of
neurological control will/can also make body color darken, which could
be due to brain or eye flukes, inwhich a two day treatment with
Fluke-Tabs would help...................... Frank

I'm doing what the troll information sites recommend by posting "I did not

done because messages are kept for years on the net. It helps avoid
problems and confusion down the road.

Your alcoholism and the mental snip

Despite your use of a remailer, Carol, the format of your quotes is from
Outlook Express. Better use your OE Quotefix on it so you don't leave
hoofprints. Kinda like when you started snipping the Path: because it showed
your servers after I pointed out to Max that's how I knew it was you.
So, here's three of your usual lies. That you'd stop replying to Roy,
you'd stop crossposting, and you'd only talk about fish. Better froth up
another flood of sockpuppets. Can't do without your flamewar fix.

lol

She's gotten a little better with practice, but you're right, the OE
format does give it away.

I only just now noticed she replied to one of my posts with three socks,
two using OEQ, and then replied to you with one of them for what passes as
normal for her. That's not really getting "better".

This **** will not end until one of them croaks.

Yep, the silence of the one and the wailing in the darkness of the other.
