It gives a distorted view of the fish, and I wonder... would the fish also see a distorted world outside the tank? |

They are pretty common in Europe with several manufacturers producing them.
Mine is a Vision 350 from Juwel http://www.aqualifeuk.com/shop/3/119/145/215/ and the smooth curve doesn't cause visual problems. The three foot reach to the rear corner is another matter.......... Sue |

Are these tanks rare? I usually see a couple of them waiting for a happy
owner in my local pet store ... not a big pet store at that. I'm in Calgary, Canada. And I didn't notice distortion, either ... if anything, these tanks allow a great view of your set up. I have been eyeing them for quite some time 8) My only concern with these tanks would be the close proximity to the walls on either of the angled sides ... I suspect this would affect the water temperature, especially in cold days ... and cold days in Canada are quite frequent 8P ib. "Sue" wrote in message ... I must say I've never seen a big corner tank on sale when I dropped into
fish store in the USA but they are not uncommon here in the UK with any specialist shop having at least one on view. Insulation is not a problem. You put a background behind the tank & stick styrofoam between that & the walls. Sue "Ireney Berezniak" wrote in message news:CP%8c.21725$Ct5.10094@edtnps89... Are these tanks rare? How very strange to realize that it doesn't look like that to everyone... Goes to show that we all percieve things differently :D I would think that if the walls get cold when it's cold outside it might affect the water temperature, but the heater should be able to compensate for that? I live in an enviroment that's far from what I whish for - down to 20 below C, but I never noticed the walls getting cold on the inside. I assume that would differ from house to house though :) |

Indeed, I'm renting an older house ... circa 1960's, I suspect. The
insullation doesn't seem to be particularly well done, or perhaps its effectiveness has diminished over the years, as walls get cooler to the touch in the winter time. But as Sue pointed out, I could easily put some insulation between the tank and the walls if I wanted to ... "McEve" wrote in message ... Your lucky , you have no idea how much more expensive the tanks are in Winnipeg. I was visiting relatives in Calgary and stopped in at Big Al's and the prices are less than half what they are here. BTW you have a very nice store there at Golds. Great looking fish and I notice all individually filtered tanks. Rick |

I looked into shipping, and Florida to Oregon would have effectively tripled the price, even assuming I wasn't outbid from that point. -- billy -- Need tech help? http://www.winextra.com news://news.winextra.com |

Sue I have a 4' tank with curved class corners ('tho not a corner unit), and yes, there is distortion at the corners, but it is not a problem really. Everyone who sees it falls in love with it immediately. The absence of corner posts more than compensates for the distortion. Thats my opinion and all my visitors seem to agree most enthusiastically. |
