It's a bit clunky and slow loading, but it's holding together. My menu
is not 100% happy with Netscape, but I'll be changing it anyways, because I can't bookmark easily to pages. The Links Pages is about 20% finished, and the drawings are too big and slow (fortunately only 3 or 4 pages have drawings right now). I need to learn to make thumbprints and use much lower resolution drawings. So it's a work in progress, but it will always be, because I have lots of plans for it :o). If you're a regular reader here, then much of it will be familiar (cycling a tank, selecting rocks, etc), but there are a few ~different~ sections, like stocking methods: http://www.2cah.com/netmax/whatfishw...ankmates.shtml , what to watch for in the LFS (according to fish species): http://www.2cah.com/netmax/basics/fi...election.shtml , and a simple DIY glass cover: http://www.2cah.com/netmax/diy_proje...asscover.shtml , which I've never seen anywhere else, and about 20 more pages (you know how prolific I can be ;~). It's mostly written for new hobbyists, but I've put a NetMax spin on things ;~). Comments, corrections, suggestions for new pages, all are welcome, because most of what I've learned came from here. -- http://www.netmax.tk/ |

Wow. Lots of info there. Personally, I think that the shear amount of good info that you have written and/or collected outweighs any clunkiness to the HTML. I didn't have any problems getting around. The only thing that I noticed is that the counter seemed to update every time I looked at a new page, so I was getting multiple counted, I think. Thanks for posting the URL! --chris On Sun, 25 Apr 2004, NetMax wrote: It's a bit clunky and slow loading, but it's holding together. I use Opera. The pages loaded fast enough. Did you mean to leave a lot of unused space or is that due to my browser? I could move using the links. I could only go to the page from the links you provided in the newsgroup. I would never read so much text unless I had a current interest. I would want an index page (home page) that offered such information and then be able to select from that. Good luck, it appears to be a very ambitious project. |

The site design theme is great, really appeals to the eyes. The only comment I have is at the resolutions that _I_ use (1280 x1024) the blue background becomes a square of blue that only takes up about 80% of the screen. The absolute sizing works for most people. There are a few of us out here that use these high resolutions. If you wish to continue with the frames, put an inline frame in place that will fix the veiwable area to your prefered width and height, and the text will remain in there. After that... I like, and plan on sharing with many people who need the help, and experiences that you have had, and compiled. Great Job!, IMHO --Tony |

Thanks for the excellent feedback!
I'm going to shut the site down and migrate the contents to a table/template layout which Flash constructed for me. This should address the white border on hi-res, the JavaScript/frames issues, and book-marking of pages. There is currently only one counter which increments when any page is referenced. It hope I can make it into a separate counter per page, and a friend is working on the server script for me. Thanks Morten for the validator URL. The unused space was an incorrect setting on a header image. I'll try to put an index page together (good idea Dick). Thanks Mary for the thumbnailer URLs. Jessica, is there an emoticon for blushing? ;~) I'll be back :o) NetMax |
