Live rock

John,

You can use uncured live rock, but you will have to let it cure before
you add any life to the tank. Now on the lighting, do you need them no,
do you want them in my opinion yes. If you want the photosynthic life
to do the best during the curing process turn the lights on, the down
side is that you could have some pretty major algea blooms with the
lights on.
