New pump suggestions? Low GPH....
So, I'm new to ponds and would love some suggestions for a new pump.
I'm about to fill a 300 gallon pond that has a waterfall with a 5' head. Can anyone suggest the right filter for this situation, and maybe where to get it? I want to submerge the pump in the pond and pump the water up to the falls. I'm planning on 2 small veggie filters near the top of the waterfall. I'm not afraid of paying more for a quality pump that won't get jammed often. A low voltage pump would be ideal. Many thanks (and thanks for the replies to my last post). --Rob |
New pump suggestions? Low GPH....
Put whatever pump you decided on (I'd look at a 700 gph mag-drive,
www.thatpetplace.com) inside a mesh basket. Example on my webpage www.jjspond.us click on *My Pond Photos* and go to Page 7, scroll down to bottom right. Pictured are 2 mesh baskets zip corded together, or you can use one basket and window screening tied to top. Do not leave the foam pre-filter on pump or add anything in the baskets, only fine particles will come thru the baskets, and you'll be clog free. Large surface area keeps the big stuff out of the pump until in breaks down to little stuff. Not efficient at pulling muck off the bottom, but in a 300 gallon pond, a shop vac can do that. ~ jan See my ponds and filter design: http://users.owt.com/jjspond/ ~Keep 'em Wet!~ Tri-Cities WA Zone 7a To e-mail see website On 29 Jun 2004 06:17:58 -0700, (Rob) wrote: So, I'm new to ponds and would love some suggestions for a new pump.
