Waterfall Algae

I have a one month old pond (1400 US gallons), the waterfall has developed
what looks like algae on the natural stone I am using for the waterfall. Is
this in fact algae or something else (moss?) Anyway, is this something I
should try to get rid of or is it harmless? I kinda like the look of it.

Thanks

I believe that would most likely be algae. It is not harmless it is
beneficial.

It's filtering your water, a good thing, and if you like the look, even
better. ;o) ~ jan

Someone told us that alage on the waterfall is a good thing, means your pond is
in balance. I am like you, I think it makes the waterfall look like its been
there forever.

It is string algae. It loves moving water. It is harmless unless it
starts to float on top of the pond.
