Apple snail eggs----. question???//

I have 3 Apple snails that have made NICE.NICE in my pond since day #1, I now
have 3 pink egg mounds on stones and plants.
my questions??
1. Why do they crawl out of the water to lay eggs aboe the water line?
2. How do I let them hatch and not get eaten but other critters?
a. should I bring them indoors?
(to protect them from being eaten).
b. should I place the egg pouch in the water?
3. Are Apple nails asexual (not needing a partner to reproduce?
4. Why do the snails think my pond is a place to make NICE NICE?
Thanks,
Kathy

Apple snail eggs----. question???//

I found about 10 egg clusters and put them all in a peanut butter jar to see
what hatches out. I originally bought 6 apple snails and I don't think I
want 500 new ones. BTW, that applesnails.net site has more information than
I thought anyone could ever collect on these critters.
