how do you decorate a cichlid tank?
I've got a 3month old 100 gal tank (72" x 18" x 18")
It's got 2 large red tiger oscars 6-7" that eat anything that fits into their mouths. 1 large tilapia 8" (1.5 yrs old) and about 15 smaller tilapia 2"-4" (4 months old) I caught these while they were still about 1/2" 2 large plecos 12" How would you decorate the tank? They dig-up everything and even move rocks the size of a fist. They would also eat-up the roots of my floating plants. I am also using a UGF with no gravel, just some kind of thick polyester pad on top of it, held down by a few rocks. Thanks for any tips. eric |

All these things should be too large for an Oscar to move and can make a tank look quite nice. Amateur |

I have a description of how I created a polystyrene background for my tank here ... http://fish.alansilver.co.uk/Mark3/background.asp Admittedly I'm dealing with more peaceful fish, but the background is stuck in so well that I don't reckon an Oscar would shift it !!
