feed them high protein, high quality Goldfish food, like aquadine. and feed very
small amounts. leave the algae alone on the back of the tank so they can graze. worms are laxatives as is most other kinds of land based foods ...like peas and other veggies. if you want to supplement a balanced food, then feed cooked shrimp or fake crab cut into small pieces and give only a thumbnails worth at a time. GF cannot digest carbohydrates almost at all, and digest water based proteins and fats and not digest land based proteins and fats. I always think the key is in variety.
A good quality pellet food like hikari or progold can be alternated with a variety of fresh veggies and meats. My list includes: chopped cocktail shrimp peas broccoli spinach bloodworms (which are available frozen, dried, alive) brine shrimp (also avialable in all sorts of ways) daphnia (again there is a wide choice) You can still use your flake from time to time but it makes a big difference not relying on it totally. I am also a great fan of algae on back and side walls. A great source of vitamins. |
