Raccoons munch on Water Hyacinth

Yep, we have lots of raccoons here in the middle of San Francisco.
Last night they feasted on my new Water Hyacinth, leaving mulch.
Meanwhile, they disrupted some of my pond liner in the vege filter
where the WH was, and the 400 gallon pond was down to about 200.
Where is my attack cat when I need him?

Attack cat is probably too smart to tangle with a racoon.

We have lots of raccoons here in Toronto too. But since I put up an
electric fence there aren't any in my pond. Before I ever planted any
WH they came every night trying to catch my fish. I used to see there
paw prints on the liner. Not anymore.

I'm surprised at how well electric fences work with raccoons. My friend
uses one around his vineyard. I laughed when I first saw it and said
they'd be boosting each other over it, but it seems to work.
