Fungia bleaching or dying ?

html This coral has been in my tank for two weeks. It has never opened up. I'd expect it to stay closed for a few days maybe, but not this long. Today it looked like this. pa href="http://mywpages.comcast.net/pattyanddavid/reef/MVC-076F.jpg"http://mywpages.comcast.net/pattyanddavid/reef/MVC-076F.jpg/aa href="http://mywpages.comcast.net/pattyanddavid/reef/MVC-076F.jpg"/a pCrap. pWater test show no NH4, NO2, NO3, or phosphates. pH is 8.1, temp 82, Ca 345, SG 1.025, alk 10. I suspect it's dying (or dead), but I'm hoping it's just bleached with a chance to come back. Any thoughts or advice ? Do I need to get it out of my tank NOW so it doesn't pollute my water, or do I leave it in hoping it comes back ? pTIA. pD.T./html |

Your Calcium is too low, but other than that is sounds fine. I wouldn't pull it
out. Even if it is a total loss, you may be surprised if it sprouts a couple of babies at some point. What kind of current would you estimate it is receiving? Are you attempting to target feed it at all? Marc "Patty, David & Alex Town" wrote: This coral has been in my tank for two weeks. It has never opened up. Fungia bleaching or dying ?
First of all I'd say that fungia is on it's way out. Sorry about that.
:( Fungias in my tank don't seem to need much care they just sit there on the DSB. They can be target fed & they do have a mouth (in the center of the disk). I still have to get to a medical supply store to get some kind of clamp or valve to control the drip from the tubing. You don't need a special clamp you can just tie a knot in the tubing until it drips as fast as you need it to. HTH "Patty, David & Alex Town" wrote in message ... I'd say that the current is light where this piece is. I did not target feed it, thinking htat it would get fed during normal feedings - Daily brine shrimp and semiweekly or weekly phyto. I wouldn't know where to 'target' it anyway, as there is no mouth visible. Suggestions ? Yeah, I'm still working on the calcium level. Dosing b-ionic doesn't seem to be working, except to raise the hardness. I put 60ml of each component in daily. I'm afraid that increasing it more will just raise my hardness. I just changed my salt brand to Reef Crystals, hoping that the extra calcuim will help. Only done two 3.75% changes with it so far, so I don't imagine it's had much effect yet. I've also been using kalk, about a gallon a day as part of my makeup water. Just bought some of the stuff (storage containers and tubing) I'll need to bring that up to 3 gallons a day, once i get cabinets drilled and the plumbing done. I still have to get to a medical supply store to get some kind of clamp or valve to control the drip from the tubing. Thanks again D.T.
