noisy overflow
My overflow is noisy as heck. The water "gurgling" keeps me up at
night. Any suggestions on how to silence it? |

In the meantime, you can get a length of 3/8 vinyl tubing, (about 18" to start) and insert it down the drain. It may take a day or so to find the 'sweet spot', but this will cut down the gurgle. |
buy the sponge filter for an aquaclear 500. cut in half. shove in overflow.

Plus, the skimmer can't catch what never passes the skimmer.

after mine ran for a couple of months the gurgling pretty much stopped. I

what a skimmer catches is much finer then what anysponge can catch... long
strain proteins will continue to remain disolved in the water regardless of any mechanical filtration, otherwise we'd all just have powerfilters instead of protein skimmers |
