Tank Brands
 

I'm looking at purchasing a 180 gal tank to house my breeding group of
Frontosas. Does anyone here with experience with large tanks point me to the
best brand? Most of my smaller tanks are All Glass, and I've been very happy
with them, but don't know if there are any other (better) options out there.

Oceanic is the only brand to consider. No other manufacturer can even come
close to the quality and durability of their large tanks.

Once you experience an oceanic you will wonder why you ever bothered with
all glass ;op

Glass - is harder to scratch

Acrylic - is lighter so a nice option for large tanks

All glass owns Oceanic so either is model/brand is basically the
same anymore.


If your looking for acrylic - look into Tenecor

I ran into a problem with a 105 gallon Oceanic because when I bought the
tank, I wasn't aware that I had to buy an Oceanic stand to keep the tank's
warranty in force - when the tank started to leak (the stand probably wasn't
leveled properly by the installer, or at least that's what they said),
Oceanic refused to replace the tank - I eventually cut a deal with the LFS
that sold me the tank - I wasn't happy with the deal - so I don't shop there
any more.

Read the fine print on the tank warranty.

Well, those are some of the common pros and cons, but I have a few more
for acrylic. Pro: chemically bonded so less likely to leak. Con: Has to be
fully and firmly supported across the bottom or it will sag (I've seen it
in others fishrooms).
