I AM SOOOO STUPID AND KNEW BETTER (Damselfish)
 

I knew better! I swore I wouldn't do it! I read all the horror stories. But
my daughter convinced me to buy two small Yellow Tail Damselfish as our
first fish in the new tank. WRONG!!!!! Bad bad bad!!!!

Little *******s torture anything their size or smaller. My friend bought me
a nice looking Clarkii Clownfish and I put in a very nice Royal Gramma. Both
are tortured daily by the SOB Damsels! The only thing they don't bother is
the Yellow Tang because it's so much bigger than them. Little ****S!!!

Now I am faced with the task of removing them from the tank without tearing
out all the LR. I am in the process of using the home made Minnow trap. It's
made from a 2 litre Coke bottle. I'm sure you've seen them. So far nothing.
They poke their heads in but not all the way in. Been about 3 days now and
no catches yet!

I cannot add any more fish until these two are gone. Any other ideas or
suggestions to removing them wothout disruption of the tank?

Unless you're into them and want a species tank DON'T ADD DAMSELFISH! NO
DOMINOS, YELLOW TAILS, THREE STRIPERS, WHATEVER!!!!! You'll only end up like
me wanting them gone!

Maybe some line and really tiny fishhooks. I feel your pain. I have a blue
damsel that I cannot get out of my tank. My mated pair of maroon clowns
seem to keep him in check. How long do these things live?

Damsels follow the "Rule of Inverse Cost in Relation to Co-Existance and
Longevity" theory which, boiled down, states that the less expensive the
Sal****er lifeform the meaner and longer-lived it will be.

Can you catch the other fish? If so, remove them and borrow a medium-size lion
fish for a day.

I knew people that cycled tanks with Mollies and then put in lions to get rid of
the Mollies. They were planning to keep the lions anyway, so ....

I had the same problem with two yellow tail damsels. then I completely
screwed up a partial water change that killed one of them plus a
feather duster. Now the one damsel left is shy and doesn't leave his
hiding place unless to feed;.
