Question about a pic of a filter
was browsing Big Al's, and this is a picture of a Penguin 330.

It's a tube to extend how deep the filter intake goes. If you want it to take water from the bottom, you use the extender, if you want to get rid of water from the top, you don't use it! -Ben |
I have three of the penguin 330's and I really like them but the filter
cartridges can get expensive. One filter takes two cartridges and also has two baskets so that you can add extra carbon. The filter intake that you were asking about is fairly long, in my bare bottom tank it only has about an inch or so clearance from the bottm of the tank. In my cichlid tank (which has gravel) I had to trim the intake tubes down a bit. Hope this helps! |

You're saying this filter requires more? A |
Yes, The 330 needs two filter cartridges (they slide behind the
bio-wheels just like in the 170 and 125 models) and it also has two baskets that are behind the cartridges for any extra media you may want to use such as carbon. For the most part I dont even fill the baskets unless I have medication or something that I am trying to remove from the water. |
