BB vs DSB
Not trying to cause a big debate or anything, but I am trying to decide
whether to get rid of most of my sandbed. I recently had a slip of a powerhead dig a hole in my DSB and after having a stable tank now I have GHA and Cyano problems. I have talked to some people about just going bare bottom or having just enough to protect the bottom of the tank from the LR. My tank is 2 1/2 years old and is a 75 gal. I need some Pros and Cons and also some how-tos if I decide to make the big remove. Do you do it all at once or gradually? Any thoughts appreciated. Paulette Tawzer |

Paulette Tawzer I don't know if this will work in your case or not, but I know by using a plenum system that I saw on garf, that after you put the plenum in, you put sand on top of it, and then in the last inch or so, you put another piece of screen over the sand, and then add more sand. Could you maybe just remove about an inch of sand, and then put down a screen? Put the sand back on top, and that would probably keep anything from disturbing the lower section of the sand bed. I bought my screening as window screen at HD I think. It is in thier window and door section. -Chris |
