What happened to my favorite group?

What happened to this group - there are only a handful of messages here
at all? The same thing happened to rec.aquaria.freshwater.plants and
who knows what else? Could this be a google only thing or did something
twilight zone happen? Later!

Later? g I have not noticed an abnormal reduction in the number of
posts. I'm going, therefore, to assume that the problem lies with
your newsgroup provider, in this case, Google. If the problem
persists, you should look into more reliable nntp access, such as
Giganews. Some basic plans can be had for $5US a month...or less. I
have not, in 3 years, ever had even a momentary lost of news access
or reduction of service that wasn't accompanied by a power outage!

Nevermind all, it appears to just be a google thing!

Could it not also be that the proliferation of the various online forums
have replaced the ng's...

this is very true in a plethora of groups as there is an influx in recient
years of "kooks". too many people out there with too much time on their
hands, an axe to grind, a personal computer, and not enough education to
make them a positive contribution to any topic. with the exception of this
group, any serious discussions i partake in anymore are done via private
mailing lists or closed groups. at least in my fields. i recall a
discussion sometime back when a person proclaimed "mammals are not animals".
when the majority of these people feel they are right simply because they
proclaim it to be so, it is impossible to rationalize with them. there are
even those who believe the earth is only 6000 years old.

okay... i'm stepping off of my soapbox now.

Feel free to step back on your soapbox, tedd. I have enjoyed reading your post and agree with you. Some people are very misinformed and sometimes I have to wonder why their parents were allowed to breed.
