Mine is not working now and I need to get another one pretty soon.
Currently I have: 1/2 HP Submersible Dirty Water Pump ponds farm floods

This is the second one of these I have and I'm done with them. This one
is doing the same thing that my first one did. It blew the circuit on
the gfci outlet. I reset it and it runs for a few min and the circuit
blows again. Its not the outlet because anythig else plugged in still
stays running.

Anyways at my office we have a 300 gallong salt water aquarium and this
is the kind of pump we use there and it runs 24/7 and its been ruinning
for over 2 years straight with no break downs. The only difference will
be that if I get one mine will have to live outside. I will probably
make some kind of cover for it.

That is the typical Harbor Freight pump which you can usually catch on
sale for $21 or 22 dollars most every month. With the shipping charge
plus the price of the pump on Ebay it would certainly be much cheaper
going to a HF store or order one from HF straight out.

As to their quality....it varies with pump to pump. I havew a bunch
of them. I have already had one that would not run, took it back and
got another which wa bad, finally got one that would work. I have had
them that leaked really bad, and HF ata least will honor their
warranty with no hassle, but it takes forever to get parts for them.

I use em on my potassium Permaganate spray outfit, on my 2 stock
tanks, for coolant supply on my machine tools, and a bunch of other
uses....They are not economoical to operate as they consume 375 watts
IIRC and only move a so called 300 or 350 gph of water. I checked flow
and watts and they pull closer to 450-460 watts of power and move
closer to 275 to 300 gph of water. The head and lift this ebay ad
states is absurd.......as is the lift. Its closer to 100 feet of head
and 10 feet of lift, and then they are hard to get to take a prime.At
about 5 feet of head the flow is not much more than a water hose
without a nozzle......at 100 its a trickle.. This wide variation is
due to the abscense of holding any close tolerances when they make
them, as they come from china. I have found a way to improve the pumps
output to approx 400 gph, but it takes a machine shop to mod them.
since I have the equipment necessary its not a big deal for me and
gives me something to do......but it would be cost prohibitive to
modify one and have to pay a machine shop. Why not get a Pondmaster
Pump, mag drive made by Danner. They make a 5C model which is
submersible or external, pulls 45 or 50 watts of power and moves a
good 500 gph of water....IIRC its also approved for use in sal****er.
I have had one mounted externally on a 75 gal tank now for about 2
years now and its trouble free.
It matters not who makes those pumps, as you can tell from the
descriptions and the pics of them they are all one in the same, just a
different color all made in china. Northern tool, Chucxk Hornier Tool
Circus and a host of other cheap junk stores sell them, at various
prices with Harbor Freight usually being the cheapest source.

If what you say is true, it would be insanity to not pay full price
for a Sequence pump. Compare and contrast the GPH-PER-WATT, and then
do your power bill every month for year.

E.g., Sequence Cimarron, 3600 GPH, 160 WATTS.

Follow up.

Mentioned pump is a high pressure, high head, low flow pump.

These pumps suck down power for nuthin, unless you need to
run water up very high. Sequence pumps, on the other hand,
are designed to be the most economical high flow, low head,
best gallon per watt pump made. Only a few manufacturers
can compete... barely.

Roy thanks for the heads up on those external pumps. I really like the
flow of the one I have now, it's very powerfull I have it push water
from the pond up a few feet then it splits part water to the Bio Filter
and UV Filter and the rest goes to the water fall I made out of 2" PVC
pipe that I have made into something like this

and one side of the PVC has a slit cut into it and the water sheets out
with a nice flow. Not too forcefull and not just a trickel either...

I really dont want to spend $100 for a pump but I think thats what its
going to take to get a good enough one.
