Lotus seeds
I used sandpaper to file the side of 3 lotus seeds. I then have put
them in a clear bottles with warm water (which I replace once in 24 hours). The water does not turn cloudy?!??! Is this a problem? The seeds have irregular bulges and seems like they have some sort of air pockets inside? Is this common? Any insight to ease anxiety would be welcome - S |
One of the seeds has sunk to the bottle floor. Hurray! Still waiting
to see what next. - S |
Now the seed that sank to the bottom seems to turn the water cloudy. I
will have to see if it will pop today :-) - S |

Someone suggested I keep the water moving to prevent stagnation with an airstone. They also suggested I change the water a few times a day. Too late, by then I had no seeds left. :*( -- McKoi.... the frugal ponder... EVERYONE: "Please check people's headers for forgeries before flushing." NAMES ARE BEING FORGED. Thanks for the tip. I will lookout for that.
Now 2 more seeds have sunk. Status: 4 seeds put to soak 3 seeds sunk 2 sunk seeds turn the water murky end of day. Now I am carrying the seeds in my car. I figured they will get the sun as much and I can shake them every few hours. I feel like a kid on a science project! - S |
Now I am carrying the seeds in my car. I figured they will get the sun as much and I can shake them every few hours. I feel like a kid on a science project! The sun could be detrimental to the seeds sprouting - I sprouted mine on a bench in my garage with no sunlight at all and I never shook them either, just changing the water whenever it got too cloudy. I actually used egg cups (~ 1.5 oz) I remember reading somewhere that seeds like darkness for sprouting Gale :~) |

I hope you get at least one plant out of the deal. -- McKoi.... the frugal ponder... My Pond Page http://tinyurl.com/cuq5b ~~~ }((((o ~~~ }{{{{o ~~~ }(((((o |
Really?? the three websites (only ones I found) that seemed to focus
mostly on lotuses said sunshine will expedite the process... and darkness / cloudiness will slow it down... I am confused... Does everyone here think I should place it back in the dark??? thanks in advance - groupers!?!?!?! :-) - S |
