The joys of fish keeping

What are you happiest moments with fish keeping, and what anoyes you
about fish keeping?

Simple question. My joys would be well when I got my first tank, second
when I found the loach, I watch them for a few minuets many times a day.
my clowns I enjoy watching them sleep. It's like watching a mamal, lay
on side, flap fin, turn over, etc. My anoyances my tanks are too small
and i can't yet aford a new one, maybe after christmas ;). Also the
smell of the crud when I deep cleen my powerfilter.

Note: I may take some posts and use them on my website, if you have a
problem just put a note in the post, I will take no offence.

My happiest moments are chilling out after work doing nothing but looking
for minute changes, like in the way a leaf has grown since the day before,
and noticing that a pair of cichlids has produced fry for the first time.
This has just happened to me and I'm chuffed to bits :D

Wost bit, too many power cables, not enough space for all the tanks I want
...... and algae.

Like you said, I like to wath them suspended in the tank gracefuly,
especially the discus. I found my inner peace right there.

Some people do Yoga, some people meditate, some people do TaiChi, some
people enjoy clasic music. Me? Watching fish swim. The key is to relax
your mind, whatever works for you.

Hmmm, where to start :-)

I love the way the my bettas come up to the front of their tanks and
flirt with me whenever they spot me - flaring beautifully and showing
their full splendour :-)

I love the way the most of my fish are so confident that they will feed
from my hands :-) Occassionally get my fingers nibbled though - lol

Finding new fry is always a good one :-), a little too common in the
Malawi tank to jump up and down anymore but I still remember spotting
the first one...

Watching the different dynamics in each tank - how the fish interact
with one another and what they get up to in their little lives....can
get a bit nasty in the Mbuna tank though :-(

Clown Loaches - nuff said :-)

The satisfaction once all the tank maintenance has been done and sitting
back anywhere in house (or standing in the kitchen) looking at gleaming
tanks and happy fish

Refurbing tanks - even down to as simple as changing the plants around
to give the tank a "new look"

Researching the next project - he,he :-)

Yep - thanks for that...but I don't know if you saw my subsequent post
but one of them turned up briefly and then vanished again...they must
have found a real good hiding place - I did lose one once before when it
got trapped in a piece of driftwood by my Plec...it eventually got out
when the plec went on its nightly excursion....

I'm waiting to see what happens at feedtime....

When I finally stabilized my 5 tanks and there was no more waking to
milky water. The worst was when I killed several fish by over dosing
acid to lower the pH. It taught me to see me as the greatest threat
to my happy fish keeping and I have steered toward minimalist care
taking since, no charcoal, no bio wheels, no fertilizers, no chemical
water adjustments. Changing 20% of the water twice weekly has become
my religion.
