how to clean algae cleaner?

I just ordered a MagFloat to replace some of my older algae cleaners. Just
curious what everyone does with respect to cleaning/maintaining the cleaner
itself ... with my older ones, I just rinsed with R/O water and kept it
aside. But, I don't think this really cleaned it, and finally the
smell/ickiness got to a point where I just threw it out.

Thanks in advance!

Use white plain vinegar and RO to rinse / wash it out.
