Rose BTA help needed

Hi all,
I purchases Rose BTA last Monday. It was a tank raised "split" about 3"
in diameter. Appered to be in good health etc. Two days later it went
missing, and I found it on the substreate behind the rockwork in
relative darkness yesterday. It crawled on a small piece of rock and
was surrounded by sand, so ithought it was stuck there. The guy looked
to be in prety bad shape - deflated and tentacled were very thin. Long
story short, i had to take half of my rockwork down to get to it. After
5-6 hours under good light the anemone seemed to inflate a bit but is
still about half of it's size.
Well, today in the morning its in a cave again hanging upsidedown.

Is this normal behavior or is it hiding from stong light (450W of MH
and actinics over 90 gal tank)?

Thank you in advance
Yuriy

How high is your 90 gallon tank ?
It is normal when anemone travels after introducing to a new tank.
It is also normal that he inflates and deflates periodically.
When it is fully inflated try to feed it with small amount of fish meat or krill.
And keep an eye on him and not let him get into a power head or something.
Basically - let him choose the place he likes in your tank.

Pszemol,
The tank is 18" deep (~50cm).
The anemone ate some crill on Tuesday, and yesterday it wouldn't take
the food (piece of crill didn't "stick" ot it)
As far as powerheads go, I thing my tank is anemone proof after my
sabae decided to escape through 3 mm hole in the water intake... I have
window screen over anything larger than 2 mm.

Thank you
Yuiry

Wow... 400W MH lamps over 18" ... that is a strong light.

My BTA is in 30 gallon tank, 16" high under 2 x 96W power compact
bulbs (1x 10000K and 1x Actinic) and it walked down on the reef
rocks to about middle high and seems to be quite happy...
Your light is couple of times stronger with much higher UV content.
Maybe it is getting burned and needs time time to aclimate to
stronger light? Do you know what light conditions were in the tank
you got it from ?

I wonder if anybody here has an BTA under 400W in 18" high tank...

Give it a time to aclimate. Mine when it was freshly introduced did
not want to eat very often. It is possible it is not hungry... One krill
is quite big amount of food for a little fellow like your 3" across BTA.

Keep observing it and note how often it becomes inflated/deflated.
I think it will be ok if you give it more time to acclimate to your tank.

Pszemol,
My anemone came from a tank with one 250W MH, but it was not directly
under it.
My current setup is 2x 175W MH 10000K and 2x 55W actinics, but almost
all LR is directly under the light.
I have overlooked that point. I'll try to turn one bulb off for some
time and see what happens (Only one half of my tank has SPS corals)

Thank you for the suggestion.
Yuriy

Yes it's normal.
BTA's like to be attached under a rock upside down out of
the light so that it can streach out to the light.

Also, seems like once they find a place their happy with they don't move for
a very long time. (Sounds like my husband in front of the television ;-))
