blue tuxedo
I acquired a blue tuxedo Urchin from an acquaintance of an acquaintance
today. He was unable to care for it anymore...aw hell..he went to prison and is going to be there longer than his roomies are willing to care for his tanks, so they gave his stock to me. I owe my friend one for arranging this. 1 yellow tang 2 cleaner shrimp 2 emerald crabs (little bitty) couple dozen blue leg hermits and the blue tux. I've never owned an urchin before, and when they were brought over, it looked pretty sad. A great many spines had fallen off, and he has not moved in the 2 hours since being acclimated and added to the tank. I have no idea how long he was in the baggie, or how well he was cared for before this. All the other stock appears healthy to me. Any insight/tips on the blue tux? tia -- billy -- Need tech help? news://news.winextra.com |

Hiya Dinky
I used 13 of these little gems to help clear my tank of hair algae which they managed to do very successfully. After a couple of weeks when the algae had been munched away and there was no signs of it coming back i decided to return all bar one of them to my LFS for a credit, and the one that i have kept has increased in size by about 20%. I found it beneficial by adding a couple of algae wafers once a week just before lights out, thats of course if you don't have any other form of algae in the tank. I came home today to find my choc chip star attached to the urchin. I gently seperated them, and found that the star had pulled off most of the spines from one side of the urchin. I suppose my question is, was this likely a chance meeting, or does my new urchin have anything to fear from the star? I know from my research before I got the star that they are known for attacking some corals, but a sea urchin? tia -- billy -- Need tech help? news://news.winextra.com |
